There are many reasons to travel to the Netherlands. Free stroopwafels is one. LOL May be time for another EU trip, we haven’t been there since the summer of 2010.

Other food I enjoy from there include… Krokets, Patats (with mayonnaise) and Bitterballen. Along with the bitterballen maybe a glass of Dubbel. Beer

You found the right stuff Don, although I like triple better, or blond when I feel like a lighter beer.

To tease you a bit, I just came back from the pub, enjoyed bitterballen and a few IJndejaarsbier. Feels pretty good but the evening is not going to be very productive anymore. Innocent

Stroopwafels are not expensive, so when any BLF member is nearby, i am more then happy on handing out stroopwafels or other Dutch treats Wink

Stroopwafel.

Stroop means syrup or molasses.

Wafel means waffle.

And Luftwafel means flying-waffle.

Ha!

Prior to Christmas these two cans each held 8 stroopwafels. They did not last long.

Yeah, if I bought ‘em, they wouldn’t even make it back to the car.

I have one lonely bottle of La Trappe Dubbel XX here and will toast you and all the other Nederlanders on BLF with it on New Year’s Eve. Beer

Yep, even au naturale.

And she’s just as sweet as all the goodies above, too. LOL

No worries.

The Holy Trinity of female singers, to me, is Sharon den Adel, Tarja Turunen, and Doro Pesch.

So… there’s a duet with Sharon and Tarja (“What About Us?”), and with Tarja and Doro (“The Seer”), but nothing with Sharon and Doro.

A trio of Sharon, Tarja, and Doro would be just too much for this universe to handle. LOL

OK, one last word….. I’m reading a book on the Netherlands, “Why the Dutch are Different”…..

We adopted the Dutch word wafle and changed the spelling a little. Apparently we also borrowed the words cookie (koekje), brandy (brandewijn) and coleslaw (koolsla)

Other words….
Wall St in New York was originally called De Waal Street
Broadway was originally Breede Weg
Harlem, NY was named after Haarlem and Brooklyn after Breukelen
and there are numerous towns named Holland across the USA.
