Shortest day of the year here

6 hours and 40 minutes of "daylight" today.

For the Danes, Norwegians, Finns, Swedes, Alaskans and Russians here, this isn't much - but I probably live way to the north of most folks here. Even when the sun is nominally up, extra light is welcome.

My brother (Who I last saw in April, it was a very nice surprise when he appeared today) who sells weapons for a living was very impressed with the Fandyfire triple XM-L. Doubtless he will be selling something like it to armies near you some time soon for $100,000.

The shortest day of the year , or SDOTY, is hereby declared to be the official FLASHAHOLIC HOLIDAY from now to forever.

Happy SDOTY to all !!!

Chicago X has spoken. Now go and make it so.

It may amuse you to know that my father's doctorate was awarded by the University of Chicago. Around 60 years ago.

:)

Shortest day here too...it sucks it was dark at 4:15pm...:(

Seriously its hard to live like this every evening its pitched black...summer is nice though. I remember this past summer I had a picnic on the longest day, it was light until around 9pm, LOL.

Today is a good day to play with flashlights. Maybe a "Small Sun" brand.

Just enjoy the hibernation Don! Try to relax and get some extra sleep.

..it's the longest day down here...~15h 21m.

Today I have ONLY 3h34min of effective time to charge all batts before it gets dark again :)

For days like this, you gotta have some stock.

Not a good time to use a solar powered charger then :)

about 8 hours of sunlight here, about 14 hours of total darkness

" My brother (Who I last saw in April....."

WOW ...that's really dark when you can only see your family members during certain months ..

Makes perfect sense ...you wanting so many flashlights..he's armed and it's dark:P

I'd need a few more lumens to see him - and the neighbours might object to a 605 mile beam. :)

Wonder how big a reflector I'd need for the 10,000 XM-L's

It's here now in San Diego...happy Winter Solstice to all!
