1. discharge the battery pack and put it in the recycling bin
Why?
- because with 33mOhms as current limiting resistors with proper high drain batteries you should get at least 3000 lumens
- so they use some Ultrafire fake batteries which are absolutely junk
I doubt the battery pack contains a BMS, so after charging it a few times it may explode
2. replace that “driver” with one of my buck ones
3. bridge all springs with high flex battery wire 0.35mm² is sufficient
4. check if thats a real cree XHP50 or fake
and option 4 as sad as it sounds put the whole light in recycling bin and buy a proper light like Yaxman XHP50 lights or so, but honestly i would get a reflector light like Convoy L2
because you bought a piece of junk overpriced
See those grooves in the top of the aluminium? You may have to unscrew them (try counter clockwise direction), it seems to be a screwed in “ring” that holds the white plastic gasket and also the emitter board (MCPCB)!
Then you may need to pull it from the sides of the interior hole! Flat stuff like tweezers may help! Try not to touch the LED, though
About the “better output”, I’m not sure if you will get much more from that flashlight with that driver! If you can solder, putting one of Lexel’s drivers will much be better for sure.
Also, if the MCPCB (emitter plate) is copper, it will be even better. If it is aluminium, not so much.
Have you tried to “twist” the plastic, as if trying to unscrew it? Maybe it is screwed in, not press fit!
To replace the driver it will be better if you can remove it (to solder better wires from the driver to the LED).
The batteries, it will depend on the driver as well. I don’t know if putting high-drain batteries in a driver like that will be a good idea. Maybe other member can step in and help on this as well
And there is something more: the light is side switch, but there are only 2 wires coming out from that driver. I am not sure how the switch button makes contact with the pill (big aluminium piece with the driver and LED)
This may demand more work than it seems…
