Emergency flashlight.....

Hello all, newbie here….

First, let me congratulate you guys on a great forum and community. I’m also suing for loss of vision……WAY too much info! LOL

I travel and I always carry a good flashlight for obvious reasons. A big one and a smaller back up. Right now, it is a Coast G50 and a Fenix TK-45.

I also have an extensive collection/investment in NiMh, but I realize that NiMh is a dead end if I want a huge upgrade in what I carry now.

I want to renew and upgrade the “big” flashlight.

Soooo……

Here are the limitations……2 ” x 8” (max diameter to fit the door pocket), under $100, usb rechargeable. I MUST have the ability to recharge it through the car usb in case I need it again. If I didn’t have these limitations, I would buy your BRILLIANT BLF Q8 and be done with it. Did I mention BRILLIANT?

So guys, what do you recommend?

The highest-end light you could get is the $90 Thrunite TC20. Best value is kind of subjective and there are a lot of really nice lights in the $60 area.

For more here are your requirements plugged into my database: Parametrek Flashlights

If you like the BLF q8 check the Sofirn SP36. It’s got 1 less cell so slightly less diameter (but not sure if it’s under your 2” mark) but has built in USB charging.

Wow, huge database. Great help, thank you.

It looks like the tc20 leads the pack.

Btw, I noticed more then one maker of the L8, is there a difference or better choice? Or are the other suppliers just Thrufire dealers?

I’d recommend the Astrolux FT01 Astrolux FT01 XHP50.2 2215LM 309m 8Moden Micro-USB Wiederaufladbarer USB-Lade-Tac Sale - Banggood Deutschland sold out-arrival notice-arrival notice

Your battery Samsung 50E 21700 5000mAh 9.8A Battery

The light comes with an adapter so you can charge other batteries in this light. So this one 2200 lumen light will charge 21700, 20700, 18650 and 16650’s batteries internally at 500 mah.

A couple of XTAR ANT MC1 Plus Chargers around the house and car won’t cost much, small and charge well. XTAR ANT MC1 Plus Charger - 1A Max. - 14500 - 16340 -18350 - 18500 - 18650 - 26650

Pflexpro SolarForce L2P 3.8 amp XPL V6-3D LED with a Panasonic/Sanyo NCR18650GA has been on my duty belt for about 4 years. For $20 I can re-host the light to make it look brand new again. The Astrolux FT01 been in the car for 2 months so far. Astrolux S1 been in the shirt for about 2-3 years without issue.

Sofirn SP36 is slightly less than 2” (I measured mine @ 1.93”), has built-in usb charging (you can use any USB charger including your car’s) and it’s basically a smaller BLF Q8 with a colder beam (less yellow, more blue). I am very happy with mine.

The Sofirn is interesting but not available in amazon.ca.

To bring it in from Amazon.com, it lands up within $20 of the Thrunite. The Thrunite is .ca available.

I’m new to the site so i wonder….is there any specific subforum where one can peek in to find super deals? I would of bought several when the Sofirn was $10 last year.
