USB charge flashlight recommendation

I'm trying to find a simple flashlight to buy for a gift and the person would not know what to do with an 18650 battery, so I want it to have USB charging. It has to be simple, 3 modes at best, and the USB charging should be smart enough not to overcharge it. She would not be buying a separate LiION charger. It does not need to be small. This is replacing her 20th century D-battery flashlight.

I'm good with about 500 lumens on high. It shouldn't have a turbo mode or anything that gets it too hot. Brain dead simple.

My research led me to the Eagle Eye X2R or Zanflare F1. However, it looks like both are discontinued. What is the best one to get these days?

(My other choice is just a 2xC-battery LED Maglite, but I wanted something a little better if possible.)

sofirn SC31

Convoy S9

I’d recommend sofirn SP30A because it is muggle friendly. Uses USB charging, has simple UI, has real power off tail switch (for those who can forget flashlight somewhere for year(s)) and most importantly, it has good battery indicator, that is always visible. You can’t expect anyone to intentionally activate battery check and even less count how many times it blinks or what voltage is what remaining capacity. Green, yellow, red… everyone understands.

I like both those sofirn options but 6 settings? Egads. I was hoping to get only 3, but I guess that is the way the industry is going.

I wonder if the SC31 would be better.

SC31, trust me.

Nitefox UT20 is a favorite of mine. THey can be had on Amazon for around $22. I think they have a rep that’s a member for discount codes.
Sofirn SP31 would be my next choice.

I EDCed the UT20 for quite a while, and yep, it’s a really nice light, especially with the dual-switch.

Only problem is that while a dual-switch might be second-nature to most of us here, to a muggle it might get confusing. Stuck-on-low, stuck-on-high, etc., how to change it, blah blah blah, any complex-UI light wouldn’t pass the Enderman’s gramma test.

At least with a single-switch simple-UI ’31, it’s pretty easy to just fire’n’forget.

I like the SP31 too. Hard to get anyone into trouble with that light.

I flipped a coin and bought the SP30A. I'll dazzle her with lumens. If it ends up being too much, the SP31 is cheap too. Thanks everyone.

The Zanflare F1 is still available on gearbest. I prefer the modes on the Zanflare. There is a 50 lumen mode after the 290 which is usable light. On the SC31 there is a 10 lumen after the 200. This is a big drop in lumens.
