Last night i put two xtar2600 batteries to charge and few minutes later both led's on charger were off. First I checked adapter as they have tendency to go bad, but no avail it was WP2.
This morning I opened wp2 and there was nothing obviously wrong (no distinct smell, burned parts etc...) Further measurements didn't reveal anything all discrete parts look fine. I cleaned the whole board and reflowed every single component cleaned it again with isopropyl alcohol and visually checked every joint with strong magnifier. Everything looks fine but it doesn't work anymore ! I assume that main IC went bust (no markings on)
I really didn't expect this to happen after only few dozen of charges...
Cheer up, it's Christmas! Shit happens, you'll get over it in a day or two. When i killed the U2 XM-L in the Crelant 7G5 last week it was the same. Luckily i could change out the star as it's 16mm standard size.
I'll be much better tonight, while climbing up the mountain with friends in a pitch dark (not ! ) and later having fun in mountain cabin complimented with hot wine and home made cookies.
True. I still have the packaging for my WP2II, it says 15 days free replacement, 24 months free repair, lifetime repair labor, with a charge for parts.
You're not alone. Quite a few members had problems with Xtar WP2 mk ii, including me. Seems there was a bad batch of them. I'm currently waiting on a replacement from HKe.
Thank you. It was a real pleasure. I'm really happy as this is becoming tradition (5 years in a row)
We were "armed" with 6 flashlight (P10 x2, C8 XM-L x2, TR-3T6, Magicshine P7) and lot of people were literally shocked with amount of light our flashlights produced as they are still unaware of high power leds.
Did you happen to mention your a member of a flashlight forum? You may not have spent loads of money but you do have potential customers of theirs reading about your issue.
