ShockLi IMR 18650 3100mAh

Hi,

I am interested in the ShockLi IMR 18650 3100mAh battery. I just wanted to know if anyone has this battery, and what if it is everything it claims to be?
I am wondering if it can really do 40amps continuous max discharge?

If you mean…

… let me say not even the best high drain 3000mAh 18650 cell from a top manufacturer does, not even close.

Both capacity and discharge current are overstated, the latter by a lot. Cell looks to be a rewrapped Samsung 30Q, a very good cell in that class. But pretty sure you can get it cheaper and without an indecent wrap.

Cheers ^:)

Thank you for your input. I am looking to find a 18650 that could handle the high amperage. It is too bad that these are not it. The Samsung looks like it will hit up to 15amps. If you don’t have anymore suggestions I guess I will keep looking.

Thank you for your input, but I am looking to rebuild a battery pack for a vacuum that is about a year old. It has the Sony VTC4 cells in it. From what I understand, Sony stopped making this battery some time ago.
Making those batteries pretty old. I want to make sure whatever I get can handle the amperage.

Murata VTC4 cells are still being manufactured, just have a peek here:

Bench Test Results: MaxAmps 30A 2150mAh 18650...VTC4 rewrap but performs worse

You should know not all cells are rated equal. Murata/Sony rates their cells high “with 80°C temperature cut-off” at the expense of cycle life. Actual continuous rating of VTC4 cells is 23A according to reviewer Mooch. Samsung, on the other hand, rates conservatively (cycle life prioritizing). Samsung proved to be a resilience champion in the 3000mAh category:

Bench Test Results: Which lasts longer? VTC6, 30Q, or HG2?

If you are looking for cells with no lesser continuous rating than VTC4s go after Molicel P26A, Murata VTC4/VTC5A/VTC5D/VTC6A or Samsung 20S/24S/25S.

If you are located in Europe, take a look at NKON.

Thanks for the info. I went with Molicel P26A. I think it should be a viable replacement for the Sony VTC4.
I ordered 6 of them, so I am hoping I should have better run time.
