My Christmas Gift to the Forum Members - Updated with How To Solder Copper!

A Detailed Video on how to make a Copper Fitment/Trim ring (with a belt clip loop), for a Flashlight Tailcap.

Hey, I would love to have the bucks to do a giveaway, but that's not reality, so I thought I might give out a video on how I make a Trim ring, with a belt clip loop, for a flashlight. Hopefully after watching it, you will know how to make one yourselves. Here's a shot of the finished piece and the video is below.

It's just my meager way of saying Merry Christmas.

By request: How to Solder Copper parts for Flashlights (Two parts cause it's so long).

Or try here, if you Cannot See the Videos

OK I saw the video.

Thank you.

WOW, that is an amazing professional looking job. I have no idea how to solder but its something I would like to learn in the upcoming year.

Thanks for making the video and sharing all your tips, its a really great looking job.

Merry Christmas to you too, thanks a lot.

Thanks for sharing, O-L. If I ever find the time to learn soldering skills this would be a good place to start.

@ esrevenge: "Merry Christmas to you too, thanks a lot."

+1

Very well made indeed! I love the DIY from scratch mods. It takes time, but the result and satisfaction is well worth the investment.

The ring looks really good. Soldering is my problem, too. If you do another one, could you please make a little video, how do you solder the second part (the part for the lanyard) - to watch your technic?

Knowledge is said to be the greatest gift - so you could not top this one anyway ;-)

Love your results but phew you myst have made a lot of scrap metal while learning to do this so beautifully.

I've been soldering lots of things over the years as part of my work, and i just wish I came near your level of expertise!

Merry christmas to you abd yours.

I added a How To video (actually 2 videos since it was so long), on soldering the copper parts I make.

See them in the First Post

Carry On!

That was very nice of you, OL. Great job!

Merry Christmas to you too and thanks. :)

Thank you Old-Lumens, that you give us some of your spare time on Christmus and made the two new videos.

I use only a normal solder iron (with temp. control of dealextreme) and have never used a butane version. For bigger soldering work this would be a great thing.

Saw all 3 of them. Very informative, mate, thanks a bunch for those tips ;) It will really help me, I'm quite a noob in soldering :shy: And that ring looks amazing, great job :p

Very nice, thanks for sharing !

Where did you find those clamps that you use to hold the small rings together?

Always wanted something like those, but have never found them. The only ones I have found were made of plastic and those are not suited for this kind of work.

Hemostats, my wife was an RN for many years, before her stroke. When we married a few years ago, I found a treasure trove of medical tools. They work really well for holding small parts, as they lock in place.

There are many sytles and a Google search should provide plenty of links. One thing they do not do is thick parts. I only use them for thin stuff, like the copper that I solder.

I thought that was what it was :-) Now that I know the english name it is a lot easier to find them. Thank you :-)

That clip looks very nice. Extremely skilled soldering and professionally done. Thank you for sharing.

Old Lumens,

Great videos. There informative and easy to follow. Well done.

cool!

I start see the video and get bored at half... is very well made but I'm too lazy/low skilled to do 1 XD

what about make 1 for me (don't say yes of you will get 2100 requests, I was joking xD)

very nice job... not for lazy asses :(
