The RD HD35 comes in a simple plastic box that includes only the device itself.

The whole device is build around a big aluminum heatsink and a fan.
The circuitry is exposed, which gives the device a cool look :)

I believe that the HD35 is a more advanced version of the LD25.
Left: LD25 (25W), Right: HD35 (35W)
As you can see, both devices are pretty identical - at least at first glance.

The back side reveals that the HD35 does indeed feature more chips.

It seems that the HD35 comes with a brighter display with more vivid red color.

It supports three inputs: Regular USB, microUSB and USB Type-c.

The HD35 is operated via three switches and the potentiometer.

The third button is under the PCB and is used for triggering different charging modes.
Thanks to the surface mounted emitters, the user can know at any time what mode is currently used (QC2.0, QC3.0,FCP,AFC9V)

And here's another look at the Trigger button.

The right button turns on/off the load, while the left is used to cycle between V, A and P readings.

In order to test its full potential, I decided to run the load at full power (35W).
While doing so, the fan got pretty loud and the headsink warmed up, but the meter held up fine.

I also went ahead and tested the QC2.0 and QC3.0 modes with my Xiaomi QC3.0 enabled charger.
QC2.0, 5V @ 2A

QC3.0, 9V @ 2A

QC3.0, 12V @ 1.5A

Bottom line: All in all, the HD35 is a very capable electronic load.
It can definitely cope with the maximum rated discharge current and its measurement is dead accurate.

Nice to see a load that supports QC! Now we just need one that can do PD, too.

It already exist, but YZX studio is not the cheapest brand.

Is there actually an electronic load that can trigger PD?
So far I am only aware of USB testers that can cope with it, but no electronic loads.

Yes, ZL1100 from YZXStudio, it can also trigger QC and a couple of other protocols.

Thanks for letting me know
It surely looks interesting but it’s price is quite high!

I think it should be the YZXStudio ZL1100P, not the ZL1100.

Basically the ZL1100P is supposed to add support for PD3.0 triggering (the ZL1100 does QC3 trigger, but not USB-PD).

I see many reviews for the ZL1100 but almost none for the ZL1100P.

The ZL1100 has the USB-type-C connector on the left (when the screen is facing the user),
whereas the ZL1100P has the USB-type-C connector on the right side (with the screen facing the user).

For instance, in this website:
http://twarm.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=12766

the first 2 pictures there show the ZL1100P (USB-C port on the right side)
while the bottom 2 pictures are those of the ZL1100 (USB-C port on the left side)

Dodge Reviews has a video review of the ZL1100 (not the ZL1100P) here:

Interesting, I have bough a couple of ZL1100 loads. The first one I bough years ago has the C connector on the left, the others on the right (Still over a year old) and uses another software. None of them was called P when I bought them. I have always assumed it was first generation and second generation of them and not really noticed the P used in the naming.

I am frequently using the PD functions on it.

Great, so you do have the ZL1100P (I got mine over a year ago, but it was the ZL1100 only). I don’t think I’ve seen you review the unit yet? (would like to see your review…)

I think I understand what you meant by “old” firmware and “new” firmware. When I first got my ZL1100 (more than 1.5 years ago), it had the “old” firmware (different screen), but many functions were not working properly. Someone told me to try installing the “new”firmware , which finally made it work properly (screens are now different). Mine has the USB-C connector on the left (the model without PD triggering).

so sorry. it doesn’t support PD

we will publsih TC66 USB meter ,. it will have PD trigger

Woah that is very nice.

please wait, you will like it

I got one, just like what he says,it has pd trigger, both type-c ports, you need adapters if you want to test chargers with USB-A ports :smiling_imp:
