Reverse group buy anyone?
We all send 264 a buck, he buys the light and sends it to Simon. Simon reverse engineers it and we get them made for about $35.

Make it a raffle. After Simon is done with it, all those who sent in a dollar get their names in a drawing to win the original light. If you send in more than one dollar, each dollar gets an entry in the drawing.

You can give your privileged son or daughter one of these before you buy their way into

If I was going to splurge on a $3000 item I’d get a SIG P210. The holster price is really…….amazing. Now I feel bad only spending $15 on plastic holsters Facepalm

Don’t get me wrong… I do appreciate quality stuff and rare materials. I personally don’t see the value in this. Now, if they somehow can put an XHP 70.2 in there and make it output 5000 lumens that would be actually cool. This doesn’t even put out 500 lumens. And it looks like a reflector from kaidomain. Even the claims of gold-plated contacts are meant to conjure up thoughts of exclusivity – the cheapest Chinese circuit boards have gold-plated contacts. Gold doesn’t make better contacts – it just makes more anti-corrosive contacts; there are metals that have higher conductivity than gold. Gold is so soft and can be stretched out so far that plating the miniscule contacts amounts to pennies worth of gold. Sapphire lens – my $149 Armitron watch has a sapphire lens. O-ring seals, just like a $5 UltraFire light.. It’s nice, but not $3000 nice. Not even $1000 nice. It’s a fancy tube that has electronics inside that can be found in a light you can buy for under $20. There’s no exclusivity there.

On the other hand (no pun intended) I love watches. A watch as a man’s accessory is timeless (again no pun intended.) And there is precision craftsmanship on a microscopic level with insanely small tolerances.

I agree with what you’re saying. But just for a little perspective. The host of this flashlight is possibly over $1000 worth of just raw material, meaning before it was machined into a flashlight host. Look up Moku-Ti online. I found a place that sells Damascus plates for making knife parts. A thin plate of Moku-Ti was over $500 there. I’m not saying it’s “worth” that much to me but it seems to be worth it to some people. That means this flashlight, if truly made to a quality level, might be “worth” $1500. Still not seeing $3000 for sure.

Yes, if you’re a collector of certain metal alloys, then I suppose. I do have a stash of exotic woods, that are pretty pricey, but nowhere near the prices that Moku-Ti fetches.

Sure it’s unobtanium, but to me that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s valuable to me. People want things they cannot get, even if what is makes absolutely no sense in the end-use product. Maybe, if they had some hogwash story about the super-cooling properties of Moku-Ti, or its superconducting properties, or its enhanced grip.

You know, when I win Powerball tomorrow night, I may just have a shovel with a blade made of Moku-Ti, just to stick it to the flashlight snobs. Heck I may even put in some XHP 70.2s for some, er, night digging… except it won’t be me, because when I buy a Moku-Ti shovel, I definitely could afford to have someone do my light work. Speaking of which, I can see myself calling my butler: “Schmedley, could you please grab the Muyshondt from the top drawer of my desk at the study. OK, now illuminate that area for me please… “ Yes the big-time dreams of a flashaholic.

Actually, this would be the ultimate flashaholic pick-up line… Sit at a bar next to a hot girl, and take my cellphone and Muyshondt out of my pocket and set it on the bar. “Hey babe, this flashlight is 3 grand… before batteries!”

See, I wouldn’t be saying anything if they were putting everything top of the line.

Triple nickel-silver-gold plating dual BeCu C17500 springs, manually sliced XHP70.2 P2 5000k bin, germanium built boost converter, silver wiring everywhere, 18350 and 18650 battery compatibility(and 4 of each are included, along with a very high quality charger in the box), silver reflector, sapphire AR lens, aux RGB HiCRI LEDs, etc.

With a 3000$ budget, I would be making the most insane small light on the planet.

If I had it to spend on a light, I'd sooner shoot Dale or CRX $3000 than... this...

Exactly… $3000 and you get a stock imported OP reflector. I want and expect an electroformed reflector for $3K. Heck, even a TIR would be a step up, but that’s probably a $300 option that you can get for $2 at DigiKey.
