LG HG2. Fakes?

I bought these cells from aliexpress, here’s the link ,Look what I found on AliExpress
http://s.aliexpress.com/nyU7Vbqm
The writing is different , the colour is slightly lighter , the flat top is adifferent shape & the internal resistance is 30+mohm (my known genuine cell is 17 mohm) these test out on my skyrc mc3000 at around 2500mah ( my genuine cell test at very close to 3000mah )
Here’s a few side by side photos with my known genuine ,the genuine cell is on the right in all pictures

What do you guys think?

They are probably 2500mAh LG HE2 or HE4’s. For a while, most of the fake HG2’s were re-wrapped HE2’s. Which wasn’t all bad since the HE2 and 4’s are a 20A continuous discharge cell.

I’m guessing you IR tester is erratic. 17mΩ is pretty darn low for HG2, and 30 sounds about right for a HE2.

My guess is they are fakes. They certainly look different and if your Skyray is consistent as you would expect, that 2500mAh capacity is a big difference from the genuine cells.

I only used LG HG2’S on Two occasions[2 cells] They were definitely genuine. I was not impressed with them and never bought them again. They degraded at a much faster pace than my 30Q’S and VTC5A.

I know you are in the UK, so it maybe harder to get certain cells. Now I use what is left of my VTC5A and my new go to high drain is the Molicel P26A which has worked superbly the last 6 months with apparently no capacity loss. They have been tested by Two know battery gentlemen to be slightly better than VTC5A.

Yes they will pull 19.5 amps in an ecig mod but I bought them because I was led to believe they were 3000 mah ,so do you think I am right in demanding a refund?

I would certainly think so. If Robert is right about them being replaced with HE2’S/HE4’S,then you are not getting what you ordered.

I can get genuine cells in the uk but these were £2.50 each compared to £5.50 genuine ,I thought the only drawback from getting these would be the long wait .

OK,,I was not clear enough,,,,,,,,,,,,I meant I am not certain about the availability of Molicel P26 in the UK. I am sure you can get genuine cells there as VEN has for years.

The old saying,,,,you get what you pay for! I am blessed with Liionwholesale being less than 1 mile from me and of course other great dealers in the USA,,,Illumn,Orbtronic, ect.

NOT sure if I helped your cause,,,I hope I did not add to your grief.

Yes I can get molicells here ,I already have one but I use that in my D4 but my ecig eat through cells quickly so I use 3000mah so they would last a bit longer but these fakes only last about 2 hours , maybe I’ll get som flat top 30Q’s ‘ I have loads but all button tops ,the ecig only takes flat tops.

30Q sounds like a good battery for you mod. Hopefully you can get them at a good price.

I always liked my 30Q.

What amazes me about the molicels is, it provided ~ 15 more amps than 30Q and the run time[at the same voltage] was basically the same. I use them in my TN42vn90. I get 25 minutes of MAX w/ voltage of 3.50V. 30Q was 3.53V at the same 25 Minutes.

From what I have read, vaping is a lot different. Probably harder on the batteries.

Jon got a bunch of fakes in one time. As soon as he found out he contacted everyone who bought them and took that batch off the shelf. I bought 6 HG2’s from someone else and 3 of the 6 turned out to have matching marks to an HE2 under the wrapper. My ecig device takes 3 18650’s and voltages weren’t matching when it was time to charge, which is how I figured it out.

I got 6 more HG2’s from Jon, a couple years ago. All 6 have been run through 600+ cycles, and they still work great. Retired them from the ecig, but still using 4 of them in a Q8 right now.

That’s why I got HG2’s because the mod I got was second hand & the HG2 that came with it was 2 years old but tested very well with IR of 17 & it is still very close to 3000 mah

I can actually get flat top 30Q’s for £1 cheaper than the LG’s.
LG=£5.45 30Q=£4.65. Molicell P26=£6.49.

No ,I’ve had three & it’s so heartbreaking when they die ,my first two were 14 & 15 when they died ,the last one was only 8.
