I uninstalled/reinstalled and everything seems to be working though it did pop up dialog boxes to install new software and new firmware.

Are you planning to implement something like the K2 long press function so I can operate the TC66C from the PC without touching the device?

On my Lenovo laptop with a USB-C PD charger, the Quick Charge Detection screen shows the correct 20V and 2A operation but QC2.0 as the Quick Charge protocol instead of USB-C PD. Why?

In fact, running Protocol Detection against the charger correctly shows it is USB-C PD only.

for this problem, in our user manual, there is note: D+ and D- value are just reference, not very accuracy. The product will automatically identify a device with a supported fast charging mode. At this time the device supports the QC2.0、QC3.0、APPLE 2.4A/2.1A/ 1A/0.5A、Android DCP、SAMSUNG.(Note: This quick charge agreement recognition model is not complete and for reference only, we will add other protocol in the future)

It might be better if you leave that part of the screen blank or ???? if you don’t recognize the quick charge protocol instead of an incorrect one.

Which charger do you have?

If I remember well, some USB-PD devices actually use QC 2.0/QC 2.0 Type B charging to achieve higher power levels using Qualcomm ICs.

It may be that your charger actually uses USB-PD over QC 2.0/3.0 Type B, which can reach 20V at 5A.

Seems like it’s actually working though, as it is showing USB-PD being active.

detection is right , it is detection by CC wire, but fast charge identity is by D+and D- value

Right.

I was thrown off by the Lenovo specification saying PD, the TC66C detecting that it was a PD charger but then saying QC2.0 when actually charging.

RT tech,

You have got me started on reading up on the use of D+ and D- values for various protocols, many of which are proprietary. One article with a very good explanation of QC 2.0 and QC 3.0 is Article

Do you expect to be able to implement detection of a protocol running on the CC wire in the future?

Today my TC66C arrived. Damn is it small if you see it side by side to a UM 25C. I like it!
But I hope they make a change in the Sotware. The UM 25C turns on the second you put in a device (so i can let it connected to the charger and see the current when i connect a device).
But not so the TC66. I have to manualy turn it on to see the values.

thank you for your support
UM25C is bigger than TC66C, for the welcome interface, I will consider

Thanks RD tech! At the moment i use the TC66C mainly to check the current draw of my QI wireless charger. It helps to find the best position on the charger.
But like i said it would help if it would automaticly turn on.

And can we logg the data when using the PC software?

If i put the UM 25C in the charger and do not use it for a few hours it will turn off. When i then connect a phone, tablet. . . it turns on automaticly and i can see voltage current. . .
If i put the TC66c in the charger and do not use is for a few hours it will turn off. When i then connect a phone,Tablet. . . it will not turn on automaticly. I have to turn it on by hand to see the voltage, current. . .

I do not know what happend. I was putting everything together to take the Video and the TC66 turned on automaticly like the UM25.
I used the same cables and devices. And i tried it a few times (so it is not a coincidence).
It is a bit strange that it did not work this way the first few times but is working now.

I noticed the same thing.

Got mine yesterday, and when inserting it into a ZMI USB PD charger, it didn't turn on.
I thought it could trigger PD, so was a little flabbergasted. I connected my Passmark tester and it turned on.
But later, when I played around a little more, it turns on a few seconds after being inserted into the charger.

Not even close Smile I just got it and just filmed the unboxing, need to mess around some more with it before I can start recording the video.
Maybe this weekend, but even then, if I finish it, it ends up in the pipeline, so it'll be at least 2, maybe 3 weeks before it gets released.

While I wait for the enhanced firmware that can do things like enumerate USB-PD Power Data Objects, my Windows 10 laptop complains that update.exe in the application software installation has an embedded Trojan.

Did anyone else have that happen?

Thanks.

it is made by RD themselves, and windows system will treat it as embedded Trojan, but actually it doesn’t matter, just do it √
