Sofirn C05 ???? Any Reviews

(I have posted this question in another thread, but I think its been buried. Anyway apologies if this is considered double posting)

I saw this light “Sofirn C05”, recently on Aliexpress. I can’t find any info on this. Has anyone come across this flashlight before

Honestly, I never heard of it before, but Sofirn generally makes pretty solid lights, and has excellent customer-service in case anything goes amiss.

Try it?

Bump. Has anybody messed around with this model a year later? I just put one on order from their (new?) website, so when it eventually comes I’l try to post some impressions. Looks like a clone of the Streamlight Protac rail 2, wondering if its a knock off or an upgrade though. I have some Streamlights to compare it to, so we shall see!

6000K-6500K… Not worth it

6000K needs to banned…especially for street lights.

Yes, I fully agree. I’ve become quite fond of the 4000k high CRI options out there these days, but thats not really important in this type of light, plus I could swap later if I like the host. In any case, the Streamlights aren’t any better when it comes to CCT, CRI or tint. Not at all, in my experience with Polytacs, Protacs and Survivors.

So my Sofirn C05 arrived a little while back and I finally took it out to mess with it. Definitely a Streamlight Polytac Rail knock off. Even has the ten-tap programming. Interestingly, it uses the same plastic un-sprung positive battery stop that Streamlight uses on their Protac models (I don’t care for the design, give me a spring for the terminal with a integral or o-ring battery stop). Overall build seems pretty good with thick anodizing and nice feel on the tail clicky as well as the tape switch. Nice square cut tail threads.

The XP-L LED is actually very pleasant. Yes, its a cool white but its almost neutral. Not that much cooler than my Quark with 5000k 319A. Very good beam for this application- much more throwy than a Malkoff drop in but still has great spill for peripheral illumination. Unsurprisingly, similar to my Protac HL-3.

Two gripes. One minor. One major.

Minor gripe: The tape switch does not disconnect from the tail cap so if you want to be able to r&r the light from your rifle you are stuck with only the tail clicky option.

Major gripe: The rail mount is both too tight and has excessive play. Trying to attach it to a rail and at maximum spread the clamp still “snaps” over the rail, and just barely at that. Once tightened down there is fore-aft play. Not a ton but just enough to make a little knocking noise if you try to wiggle it. I could live with everything else on a range toy or hunting light and realistically I don’t know how problematic this would end up being… but to me this is a deal breaker. One buys a rail mount light for one purpose. To mount it on a rail. If it can’t do that job properly why both at all? Too bad, I was looking forward to messing with this and now it will just sit, unused.
