He nailed it...

George Carlin, joking or telling the truth…

So true.

Im off to by another flashlight

He did nail it, but the UK is exactly the same.
Just finished a 12 hr shift at a holiday camp in the Namco arcade…… 80% of the guests are way over weight, 10% morbidly. 5% of those are so fat they ride round on mobility scooters!
At 18 I was earning around £23,000 doing engineering, 25 years later I’m on minimum wage servicing and clearing up after a load of kids who at 14 can’t even add 31 and 19, worse still nor can their parents! I kid you not, I had to break it down for this teenager, 30 + 10, blank face, then 9 +1 blank face, finally we got the answer… I was staggered.
No one will employ ‘older’ people, I believe it’s because they question being treated like poo and don’t just comply. My boss even told me last year he ‘took a chance on me’ being an older person when he employed me, that year I won employee of the year out of the whole camp, and that is the truth. Kids today, they can’t add up, they can’t spell or puntuate and most of my younger workmates can’t even function unless you tell them what to do and how to do it every minute of the day - if you don’t they just stop and do nothing. No initiative at all, literally like zombies. They learn nothing and pick nothing up skill wise. I have yet to work out if they are just plain lazy or they really are that dumb they can’t do anything.
I worry for our future, I really do. If there was ever some mass electrical failure they would be totally lost, it would be like going back to cavemen, except they weren’t lazy or fat, and knew how to feed themselves!

I miss George.

My fav clip, know it by heart.
It will be removed here shortly because someone will complain about it being seen or heard by “the children”
Ironic isn’t it?

Thanks for the gift of George.

He did “nail it”. :+1: . And yes Muto, it is “ironic”…. :frowning:

Was lucky enough to see Carlin live.

I liked him as Rufus…

Sounds like you are encountering a limited segment of that generation, determined by the environment/circumstances under which you meet them.

I miss George too, he always came to the point without beating around the bush.

It is sadly amazing GOOSE. I too see kids & young adults that have no earthly idea how to do simple addition & subtraction. Forget about division & multiplication, that would be akin to a space shuttle launch for these individuals.
Might as well ask them to plan a Moon Landing than figure a percentage. Yes, I am serious…… :person_facepalming:

Thank goodness it is not the majority of kids (I don't think)…. but it is way to many that are completely lacking these basic skills. Very sad….

And that is just in the realm of simple math……

Wow! I don’t think he nailed it at all. That sounds like a Burnie Sanders political speech against capitalism. What did he do with the money he made selling his $h!t to “dumb” Americans?

You should have included “highly political” in the warning.

He just told a facts is it funny?

Unfamiliar with some of the people mentioned above, I do agree on the “intellectual” level of some of the kids of today. A few years ago I attended a reunion of my old elementary school. I was pleasently surpised by the comments these “old folks” wrote on their invitations. Including those who got a job on the age of 14, their ability to make understandable whole sentences was better than that of the teachers of today. And yes, we had to do mental calculations in those days. That subject is dropped from the list of skills modern teachers must learn. Because they suck at it. The majority of the next generation of teachers did not pass. The Teacher Training Colleges did not upgrade their education, but skipped the whole subject. Because everbody’s got a smartphone these days, right?

I didn’t watch it, so I wasn’t aware of that.

At any rate, experience shows that this thread won’t end up well, so I’m going to lock it now.
