I need recommendations and opinions please.

So im in the market for a new single AA/14500 EDC light and looking for recommendations. My budget is approx USD $30 and so far the most expensive on my list so far is the Lumintop EDC05. I also have the Sofirn SP10A, Thorfire TK05, ThruNite T10 II, Utorch UT01, and the Klarus Mi7. Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated. The must have for the light is a side eswitch, and the preferences if possible are, warm tint option, tail magnet and reversible pocket clip for hat use.

Wuben E05. Doesn’t have a warm tint option but that can be easily remedied. Best bang for the buck 14500 light going I think.

https://www.amazon.com/WUBEN-E05-Flashlight-Rechargeable-Waterproof/dp/B...

You can find them cheaper, this was just the first place that I could think of.

Here ya go.

https://m4dm4x.com/m4d-m4x-deals/

Sign up for his deal website. There is a coupon code on there for Banggood that makes it very very affordable and below your budget.

I’d post it for you but M4X ask us not to share the codes in public so I will respect his wishes.

Love my Wuben E05. Good magnet tail cap, diffuser and reversible clip. Short cut to turbo.

Sits on bed side table with Enogear AA Stainless Steel (AA/14500) & Utorch S1 Mini. Very handy light.

Love that light too. I was lucky enough to get a few before they disappeared. Wish I could get a few more for gifts.

Following this suggestion, and looking to your “warm tint option”, I would take a look at this:

https://www.selected-lights.de/led-lampen/selected-lights-wuben-e05-tasc...

This is the TLF version of the Wuben E05. It has 720 lumens, and Samsung (90 CRI) inside. Also the UI is different from the “regular” E05.

How much would that cost to ship to the US?

That I wouldn’t know Oops I believe that it will more or less the same than from US to Europe, maybe 13€-15€/$15-$20. But only the store can tell you that, honestly !

Does it really take 2 seconds (long press) to turn it off? That’s what I’ve read in one review. If so, that would be a huge annoyance to me personally.

I vote for the Wuben also. The one I have (after I put on the DC- Fix) is a great little light. Use it in the warehouse daily and on early morning or late evening walks. Plenty bright on the middle two settings and the turbo is nice when you need it. I just charge it every week whether it needs it or not.
I think I would like the UI better on that TLF edition better (probably the tint and CRI also) but it’s too expensive to get it here in the USA. As it is, I got the standard version for 1/2 off, which is great since it comes with a 14500 battery!

Maybe not quite two seconds. It was annoying at first but you quickly adjust to it. Hardly notice it now.

Still, it is longer than turning off the Manker E11 or the Sofirn SP10A/B!
That is the real only con for me!

The other puzzling thing that I asked about and never got an answer is runtimes on alkaline vs NiMH. According to Wuben, runtimes on alkalines are twice as long as on NiMH. I find that strange.

NiMh runtime may be due to low-voltage cutoff. If the cutoff voltage is too high, the NiMh won't be using nearly its full capacity. This is a hidden problem with NiMh in many devices.

I can put a fresh charge on a NiMh and put it through a run time test. Do you want all modes or just one or two in particular? I don’t buy Alky’s anymore but I wouldn’t mind seeing about the NiMh.

I’d rec that one too, except the OP asked specifically for a side e-switch. Still a great pick to consider in case horizons are broadened.

A follow-up on the NiMh vs Alkaline thing, just as an example Olight rates a longer runtime for NiMh on the i3E. Very interested in the test outcome now, lol.

Thank you.

According to Wuben, runtime on LOW (1 lm) on NiMH is only 25 hours, which in itself seems unusually short. For comparison, Utorch UT01, which also claims 1 lm on low, will run 3 times as long.

The Wuben is a good little light, I own it. However The gap between high and Turbo is too big! I like my Lumintop EDC05 a little better. Also own the Lumintop Tool AA v2 and like it a lot. Another great light that I own several is the NICRON N7. Great little light with decent throw. I also bought a $5 Zebra light headband. Now I have a great headlamp!! Out of all my 14500 lights the Wuben is my least Favorite. Thats why I only own 1 and own several of the others.

I’ve thought about that one. I’ve heard there were switch problems. Was that resolved? Does yours have it? When did you get it?

Thanks and sorry for all the questions.

I also heard of switch problems with the EDC05 but i tend to be leaning more towards that light, mainly because of the adjustable levels and the 800 lumen output.

Okay, on low, with a Amazon Basics NiMh, the grey and green one, 2400mah cell. LVP kicked in and shut it down after 54 hours 25 minutes.

I shall recharge the cell and let’er rip on Med.

That’s a little over double what Wuben claims for the NiMh. I guess the question now is – how much energy was left in the cell ( see post # 16). If not too late can you report what charge was put back?

BTW – thanks again for the test.
