My SP10s arrived yesterday foto

first thing I noticed was that the cooling fins are really sharp :-s
This makes it feel really cheap :’(
The button is a lot more rounded off at the edges.
I don’t mind this, but I like the old button more.
The LH351D on the SP10s has a much nicer tint to the SP10 2.0
The low mode on the SP10s seems to be a little lower than the 2.0

The LED is a good update, just wish the finish was tha same

Do you like the UI on the S version? I’m thinking about picking one up but it seems that many people prefer the previous version of the UI.

The sp10s has the same ui as the 2.0.
It is very simple and i like it as a edc light.
I have never used the original sp10/ui so cant compare.
i can say for sure that if there comes an anduril version,
that it wil replace my Fw3a as a sumer time edc

Very much interested,

Hence, the reason I've ended up here in the first place, I was just looking up reviews for the SP10S as I've just noticed it on Ali not long ago and with the new GT Micro from Lumintop, I was wondering if it would be possible to retrofit the GT Micro Narsil driver into the Sofirn SP10A (a nice host with a side switch - Initially I was thinking about fitting the Micro's driver in the Tool AA, but.. that host has no side switch, so.. bumer.. )

So, would I take an SP10S with a driver running Anduril natively ? Hell yeah! Even better than Narsil.

With that said and whatever I know about the SP10, whichever version, I'd like to see the following changes/additions:

 - Glow in the dark O-ring on the glass lens water seal - (Lumintop AA)

 - Copper MCPCB for the emitter (a Luxeon V if possible ? )

 - Switch indicator light - (as previeusly mentioned, just like on the SP32A V2.0)

 - PCB for the tail cap spring (with friction ring soldered where the body will touch the outer PCB edge) - thus not relying on the anodizing to break connection / "physically lock" the light

 - Dual spring (springs on both the driver and the tail cap alike) - thus, electronic reverse polarity protection instead of mechanical

 - Full Anduril of course - (no cut down options)

I received my new SP10S a few days ago. I really like the flashlight. The new SP10s has an op reflector and a LH351D led with a bit more flood than the Sp10v2 version with Cree XPG2 and smooth reflector. It appears that Sofirn raised the lumen output, on medium from 50 to 80 lumen, high from 200 to 310 lumen and turbo mode from 550 to 800 lumen, to keep the range comparable to the SP10v2. The effects of this are, on 3 minutes of turbo the light is almost to hot to hold. The Sp10v2 is just a little warmer after 3 minutes of turbo. With the SP10v2 I would get 5 evenings of use before new battery was needed. With the SP10S I get 2 evenings of use

Edit: I forgot I used light when replacing light in closet. Run time is not as short as I thought.

I would like to see high and turbo reduced but I do not know how much or if it would make that much difference in temps and run time..

Just so that I can keep track in this, these are the “last news” on this light, right?

From post #1:

Quote:

Barry confirmed that Sofirn’s engineering could redesign the driver. Andúril would then have to be adapted to work with the SP10S driver, e.g. there is no indicator switch LED in the SP10S. I have suggested the SP32A V2.0 switch LED design but we will see how feasible this is. So far no news about 1.2V – 1.5V (AA/NiMH) compatibility.

Meaning: this project is still a project and an eventual possibility and something not concretized yet, right Question

Just because I don’t wanna miss it when it becomes “real” Blushing

  1. 168 is more up-to-date.

On my part it’s still a thing, there’s progress and set-backs alike Sick
Integrating both AA & 14500 to the point that the driver doesn’t care what you feed it – LVP aside – is the hardest part if both are supposed to be regulated well.
Just 14500 is dead easy, regulated AA + DD 14500 is simple still, beyond that it gets complicated.

Thanks for the explanation and reply!
I will be using such kind of light only with 14500s so I won’t care much for AA Alkaline or Ni-MH! I do see the point, though, of trying to make it versatile to use those kind of batteries.
Still, 14500s will probably rule on it, more than AAs…

So this ones still in progress? Great to hear, was getting worried… Then again plenty of projects take years to get a finished product.

Very interested and hopefully it will use 16mm mcpcb, which makes it easy to swap for other mcpcb emitter combos.

Sofirn loves glue, so you’d probably have to deal with that first.

Interested. Any chance of a reversible clip?

The battery tube has symmetrical threads and is reversible already. Works fine if you ask me.
