Yeah, I have one or two that go to 4.22 V, batteries immediately off the charger. But they drop quickly. Bad or not bad… I really don’t worry about it. Much higher… I might.

The valid range is 4.15v – 4.25v. But, I like it to be on the lower end of that range. It’s sometimes tough to tell, exactly, since (as you say) cells will drop their voltage 10mV or 20mV pretty fast when they’re done charging.

Most of my chargers seem to result in voltages around 4.18v when I take them off the charger. So, I suspect they’re actually being charged to 4.20v at the point of termination. Most chargers usually terminate the CV phase when they’re only putting in about 100mA of charge to the cell to hold it at 4.20v.

I found this thread b/c I already own a Lii-500 charger and wondered if there was a newer version. So I have a couple of questions for those who have received the Lii-500S.

I have a problem with my Lii-500 charging 16340 batteries. There isn’t enough spring tension in the rack and so often the battery doesn’t register. Have they fixed this issue on the Lii-500S?

I see the Lii-500S like the Lii-500 doesn’t charge all 4 bays at full charge. When only 2 bays are used they get full power but when 4 bays are full they step down the charge.

I own a couple of Xtar 18700 batteries and they fit in the Lii-500 but it is tight.

I also own a Nitecore D2 which used to charge to my batteries to 4.22 but on the newest 3000+ 18650s and 1100+18350s it only charges to 4.20. But if I put them into the Lii-500 they only sit in the charger for less than a minute and it registers 4.22 and then shows finished. I can’t explain why the D2 doesn’t go to 4.22 on these newest batteries.

Thanks

My early model lii 500 always shows 4.22 on the screen but only shows 4.19 – 4.18 on my DMM. The measurement must be under load.

I’d like to get one also. Been waiting for the sale to end so I can use the GB code.

Edit-Code expired when I tried also.

Hi M4d M4x. Is there a new coupon available? Or do we have to wait for the banggood current sale for the charger to end first.

Personally not a big fan of negative LCDs, they are more difficult to read. Plus that beep every time a button is pushed seems super annoying. I hope it can be turned off.

Did Banggood extend their sale? Knew I should have ordered this when it first started. Going to take forever to get this charger.

I wish they had not dropped the 300ma mode. I use this for 10440’s as I would hate to hit them with 500ma. Have not decided yet if I will try this one or not.

Got mine! I like it. I didn’t know about the negative display but it’s not a dealbreaker. So far so good, fits the 26650s pretty good.

Got mine today as well. The display is very readable even at a shallow angle when the backlight is on, but when it’s off, you can barely see anything. I wish it could leave the backlight on constantly or only go 50% rather than completely dark. I also got the cheaper LII-S4 and it’s not battery polarity sensitive, while this one is.

Banggood is not going to relinquish this sale so that the discount code will work. Was supposed to end on the 12th. guess they are selling a lot of them at $25.

I’m bummed I missed the discount deal… $21.99 is a nice price. Can’t find it any lower than $29.99. I’m not in a hurry so will wait. Hopefully someone will bump the topic with another good price later on.

A small resistor should fix that. I’ve seen people do it on chargers before. Place it between the backlight FET’s drain and source. When the charger commands the back light on you have full brightness, when it doesn’t you have partial brightness (depending on resistor value).

I am, but I was foiled by the brand misspelling thing… Liitokala, Liitokaala, Liiitokala, LittoKala, etc. I found the 500S on the “Littokaala” now. Thanks!

I think I might go for the 6 bay one, as I prefer tactile buttons instead of touch-sensitive ones.

The only 500S coupon I’m seeing on his website is the one that he publicly stated in the original post of this thread, and it has been dead for quite some time now.

Yep…. Thumbs Up … That was why I suggested he check out the new Lii-S6.

Martin’s Lii 500S code won’t be valid until either the Sale Ends or he requests a New Code from BG.

Keep in mind the 500S does discharge testing, while the S6 I presume like the S4, only charges batteries.

This one can discharge batteries.

It seems silly to add this, but I meant to say it a month ago Wink . I found it somewhat humorous that LiitoKala released a Lii-500S charger that will discharge cells just weeks after I purchased the old Lii-500 that doesn’t. I needed that feature, spent many months searching for a cheap charger with a discharge mode, and would have paid the few dollars extra to get it.

Fast Test on the old charger is simply useless; no idea what it could be good for. Oh well Beer . That’s how it usually goes and glad that they replaced that function with a useful one on the new version.

I’m not a fan of the new display, though it seems to be a trend with some Chinese companies lately to use reverse LCD’s. It doesn’t seem too bad in the photos, though.

Thanks to Martin for the deals.

You found an original Lii-500 that does not have a discharge test (nor test) function? That’s a first.

Hmmmm… Like Pete7874 said above, if you truly found a Lii 500 that does not have the discharge test function; it is an absolute first.

All Lii 500’s have the Discharge Test function. It is the ‘NOR’ Test.

The ‘FAST Test’ you mentioned above shows how many mA the cell accepts during charging.

The ‘NOR Test’ (Discharge Test) is more accurate showing true battery capacity.

Still (or again) on sale at Banggood so the code won’t work. This is the very first time I’m wishing a sale would end so I can order and save some cash Big Smile
BTW, the code has to be entered during checkout in the coupon code entry field right?

Hi all, can I ask a silly question? Any idea why this unit doesnt come with a LiFePo charging and discharging test like the Miboxer C4000 or the Opus BT-C100 ?

Really waiting for one.
