What 18650 batteries to buy for BLF Q8 and where to buy in Japan?

Hi, I just got a BLF Q8 off eBay, but I’m rather confused about the battery thing. The manual says to buy button-top protected batteries, but I’ve seen users here recommend batteries that, according to listings I’ve found on Amazon Japan or Banggood, aren’t protected. Why? What are the pros and cons? In addition, having never bought this type of battery before, I have no idea what specs I need for this light or what brands or sellers are trustworthy. What mAh rating, what A rating, what voltage? Are brands like Keeppower or Hixon legit or junk? How do you know if something advertised by a marketplace seller as a Sony or Panasonic or Samsung is the real deal?

It seems fairly easy to get these in the U.S., unsurprisingly, but I’m based in Japan, and so far I’ve found very little on local marketplace sites like Amazon or Rakuten or electronics retailers like Yodobashi or Bic Camera, and the prices at a glance seem to be quite a bit higher—roughly $20-$25 per pair. Also, while the flashlight came here from overseas without any problem, I’m not if Japanese customs has any special restrictions on importing these sorts of batteries, so I’d rather get them domestically if possible.

Anyone have any insight or suggestions? I’ve tried using the forum search here, but I have to say the search options are rather lacking and don’t make for a good experience in finding information quickly.

I bought “Samsung INR18650-30Q 3000mAh” button top batteries to my BLF Q8 since those where mostly recommended when I did some research, now I wait for the light to come in a few days to test them

Since I’m a bit of a beginner myself that’s the only information I can give you, someone else can perhaps help you with those additional questions
