Neal,

Sent you several emails regarding my order and have yet to hear back from you or get a update on my orders. If you would please let me know what’s going on with them.

Thanks
Zack Montgomery

I’m in the same situation. I’m sure his just busy. You’re not alone.

I understand that but would be nice to know ahead of time before paying for expedited shipping. Kinda defeats the purpose of that option.

What is the tactical purpose of those rings? Grip?

As far as I can tell, yes. Or perhaps styling preferences?

I’ve also seen a few people put grip tape or a piece of bicycle inner-tube on the middle section of the light to achieve better grip. My guess is that this is Neal’s answer to the complaint some have voiced about it being “slick” or “difficult to grip”.

For me personally, I find the light to be easy enough to grip without such additions.

Yes, for holding the light in a cigar grip. Makes it a bit more comfortable. I think they got the tactical name because they go well with a forward clicky switch and help with momentary pulses of bright light while holding a pistol. I think they just make a light more comfortable to hold in a cigar grip.

Waiting more patiently paid off. I received my shipping notification from Neal last night. Now I just have to wait some more for the old “slow boat” to get here.

Thank you Neal!

And if you want better grip but not that aggressive a tactical one, a nice thick o-ring does the job well. At first I wasn’t sure if the one I installed on mine would make much of a difference since I already put on a segment of rubber inner tube. But I’m finding overall it has improved grip and I never worry about a slip. No pun intended. Wink

I had a regular shipment go out on July 3. How long should I expect it to take to get to the USA? I imagine maybe 14 days?

Double check the bags with the extra o-rings.  I think some other members have found theirs in those bags.  Worth a quick look.

1st thing I did was flex the oring bags … the I disassembled entire boxes and searched inside and out of shipping bag.
NADA

What is the original lens size?
I’ll see if UCL has anything to match.

I ALSO did not get a glass lens. Which makes me think Neal sent me one with the Carclo optics.

Easy to check.. just take the front bezel off carefully and see if it is two pieces or one.

Subscribing for future updates.
I’d apreciate if long quotes are reduced a bit.

Can anyone tell just by looking what optic I got? Also, why is my aluminum blue? Every photo I’ve seen of it shows it as gray. I ordered this thing June 13th. Finally got it today. Bit anticlimactic after all this time.  Thanks.

Looks like the plastic all in one to me. Not the Carclo with the separate glass lens. As far as the color, my two are a blue/grey (similar to the S2+ grey). It just depends on the lighting on which color stands out more.

I agree with nobody. The color looks right, and it appears to be the 2nd generation optic. You can remove the bezel and check for a glass lens to be sure.

Thanks. By remove bezel, do you mean open the battery compartment and twist out the circuit with some kind of wrench to get to the optic? No wrench here… Don’t see any other way in.

If it is the all plastic 2nd gen, what the heck did I wait a month and a half for? When I ordered the light, there was no message posted about waiting/cancelling/etc. It wasn’t until a couple of weeks later when I went back to track my order that I saw the optic announcement. I was under the impression after reading the announcement that if I didn’t say cancel or ship now, I’d get the glass lens and correct optic.

No need for a tool. Just grab the knurling on the head with one hand and the smooth part at the very end of the head with the other and give it a twist. The pieces meet up so nicely, I didn’t even know the head was two pieces.
