Moin from Germany

Hi or “Moin” as we often say in northern Germany!

I think it’s time to introduce myself. My name is Sven, I’m from Germany (near Hanover) and after I got my master’s degree in computer science I started working as a software developer.

My interest in flashlights started many years ago, but mostly as “I need a reliable light for geocaching and for walking the dogs” or “I need a small EDC light”. Only in the last year and a half I started to climb deeper into the dark hole of flashlight nerds just to find more and more interesting lights. Quickly I joined #flashlight on Freenode, developed my own driver firmware and got more flashlights.

My “collection” of flashlights isn’t that big, but there are some ThruNite, ZebraLight, Emisar, Sofirn, Fenix, Nitecore, Convoy and others.

Well, that’s it. If you have any questions just ask or look at my website.

welcome to BLF!

Welcome to the forums, Sven! I’m hoping to travel to Germany sometime soon! Nice to see another IT professional, that’s pretty neat you developed your own firmware. I envy those who have programming know-how. I’m on the infrastructure side so I have a small background in programming but not enough to create my own firmware by any means.

You have a pretty nice collection compared to mine. I have two SureFire flashlights and just picked up a Sofirn SP36 from another member here myself.

Just looked at your site and looked up Celle, Germany. Looks like a beautiful place.

Moin Sven,

willkommen im BLF und viele Grüße aus Berlin, was ja - in BLF Dimensionen - quasi "umme Ecke" ist. :-D

It's good to have you here. Moreover, someone with your skills and interest into flashlight firmware coding will certainly be of great value here.

If you like you may want to check out one of our latest projects, the Sofirn SP10S BLF edition with Andúril.

It will be 14500 flashlight, intended to run both with 3.7V Li-Ion battery and 1.2V NiMH battery by using an appropriate boost driver. Some of our best driver experts here are working on it already.

Enjoy and have a wonderful time here! :-)

Cheers,

Thomas

Moin moin und willkommen!

Ich bin in Nordbayern und Südhessen aufgewachsen, and even though the Hessian equivalent of ‘moin’ is ‘morsche’, most people there prefer the North German variant.

Gruß,

Jen

Actually I made my first post in that thread.

Have a nice time here, SammysHP!

Hessisch Gebabbel = Badesalz = legendary :-D :THUMBS-UP:

De Pappa hat de Grappa in die Tasch!”

Hello SammysHP, welcome to BLF.

Have been to the Hannover Messe a few times in the past .
Being a (thermo mechanical) engineer myself, I’ve had more fun there than visiting the Louvre.
Talking about fun: Celle is the birthplace of Lilo Wanders (a long time ago in a galaxy far far away)!

Welcome to BLF! :+1:

Moin :)
