Greetings from California's Wine Country

Hello Everyone,

I was recently given three Surefire lights (E1e, E2e, and a C2 with a Malkoff M60F conversion). Those lights are the reason I joined. They seem to be well made and they sure are easier to carry around than my second hand Maglite. That Maglite might be 40 years old. Flashlights sure have come a long way.

I’m a Noob to all of this but I am sure that I can gain something from your knowledge and wisdom.

Looking forward to my new membership.

Welcome to BLF, the best forum I am using across all hobbies.

Personally I am still in love with California, even though I have only lived there for 1 year a long time ago.

Wow! That was quick.

California is still nice but, it is really changing. A lot. Not even close to what it was like twenty or thirty years ago.

Typing that really makes me feel old.

Thank you for making me feel welcome here.

You are more than welcome. I am quite new myself, but have been reading for 1 year beforehand. This entire LED/flashlight topic is more complex than it seems at first. The products and the industry have come a long way.

I wouldn’t worry about age that much, this place is very open and friendly. The BLF rules are to respect everyone on here and so far it has been working out.

Van Nuys and Hollywood were my home in the 2000s before my job moved me away. Only visited afterwards and yes, you are right. California has changed a lot. There appears to be a lot more traffic and a lot more people. Which is crazy, if you think about it. Due to the increase in cost of living I will probably never live in California ever again.

Anyway, have fun on BLF - this place is very nice.

Hello from OC. Get ready to start buying some high power lights such as the BLF GT70 - work great in your rural area.

DT LA here, welcome to the forum! I’m new-ish here too, I tend to lurk but have really enjoyed the information here.

Welcome! You are in my neck of the woods. Are you in Sonoma County?

Thanks for joining the gang, sabre cat!

Welcome to BLF from Mariposa CA.

Welcome to BLF sabre cat! Agreed, flashlights have come a long ways since our old Maglites. I’m sort of nostalgic, and even though I still have my old flashlights, they just stay in a box in the basement since they shy in comparison to the current LED flashlights.

Talk about feeling old….I remember when San Jose was just orchards/green houses and driving down there to get bing cherries. Plus free wine tasting in Napa unlike what it is now :frowning:

Hello sabre cat, welcome to BLF. Where technology is advancing at a rapid pace.
Hang on to those “old” flashlights. They represent a piece of history. And sometimes good memories.
Quite possible they even will become collectors items. Some day.
