Hey guys, I’m looking at the FW3A and some of them seem to have Carclo optics, whatever those are. How can we tell between the carclo ones over the plastic and is there much difference in performance over them?

Not any difference in terms of performance.

And it’s actually easy. If it uses the Carclo optics, then you’ll have a glass lens.

And the new lens type is floodier.

my recommend are samsung 30Q, LG HG2, sony vtc 6, if you willing to lose some lumen but more run time, then panasonic ncr18650B, samsung 35E, sanyo ncr18650Ga

What do any of those lights have to do with the FW3A?

@Chinaheart, I don’t know what these lights have remotely in common with the FW3A, but the throwiest one is the MT09R XHP70.2

Due to weird circumstances I had a unit with the Carclo optics and one dead LED, and another unit with the “new” optics and all LEDs working. Honestly the light with 2 LEDs working and Carclo optics seemed brighter than the fully functional one with the floody optics.
Of course I exchanged them so now the fully working light has the better optics, but it was an interesting comparison.
