Proposal: Practical use for multi-colored aux lights

Multi-colored aux lights are a relatively new introduction to flashlights. Emisar D4v2 uses RGB aux LEDs which provides 7 possible colors.

I propose that they can be used to provide more intuitive advanced configuration, which does not require the user to count buzzes or perform rapid clicks, and which provides immediate visual feedback on current status of each option.

For example:

User performs long hold (5-10s) to enter config mode

1. Light performs a short buzz - the color of which informs user of current setting function.

2. It then performs a long blink (1s) - the color of which informs the user of current value within this function.

(Repeat 1 & 2 until user advances to next setting function)

Within each setting function, a single click cycles through the possible values (in a continuous loop) - user receives immediate visual feedback via a change in the long blink color.

A double click advances to the next setting function (in a continous loop). We know we are in the next setting function because buzz color changes.
A long click exits configuration

With 7 colors we can do 7 setting functions, and 7 values within each function.
If we want more possibilities, we can of course easily combine colors (eg buzz red, green)

I use NarsilM as a basis, purely for illustrative purposes as many are familiar.

Mine has been a terrific Night Light since getting it so there is one to try Today.

Set to Low Blue, yes really simple and really not distracting at all either.

Should be interesting to see what ideas people come up with.

It’s makes them look pretty , a lot of people like bling.

I like the bling.

Who has time to look and see what color the aux lights are? Push the button to turn it on, ramp it up, or double tap to get to turbo.

Most people set it to what they want in the UI and let it roll like that. From my personal use I don’t change up the settings or basic how it works after I get the UI working the way it was intended or set the way I want it. How did that comercial go at 2:00 AM on the tv? “Set it and forget it.”
