OLd_gUY says "Hi" from California

Hello everyone,
I’ve been lurking around here for a short while and thought it was time to join. To be truthful, I’m a true neophyte (Muggle - lol) and I’m amazed at the wealth of information shared by so many in the posts here. It’s a great way to learn, although I’ve been spending quite a bit of time looking up definitions of terminology so I can follow along.
I’m awaiting delivery of a Fenix PD25 which I purchased primarily because of the form factor. When not in the pocket, it will spend most nights on the bedside table (I decided tail standing wasn’t an important factor). If I was wrong, I guess I’ll wait a month and open the wallet so I can join the “slippery-slope” club. Right now, I’m looking for a charger (won’t spend the $ for a SKYRC 3000 - overkill for me) and hope to get a BLF when they become available. Any ideas for something in the interim? I’ll give it to a grandkid when the time comes so no pieces of crud, please.
I guess that’s it for now.
Looking forward to learning more.
OG

Welcome to BLF! I am sure you will be able to understand all the details we share here.
Greetings to California.

Welcome to BLF old guy !

The Liitokala Li-500 charger is a nice charger for approx 20$

If you are only looking to charge one lithium cell, its hard to beat the XTAR ANT MC1 PLUS
If you want to charge mulitple cells or NiMh cells, or other variants, than there are several cheap decent chargers to be had for ~$20.

Welcome to BLF! Hope you enjoy your PD25, looks like a nice pocketable form factor. It’s likely all you will ever need, but if you hang around too long you’ll find other lights you can’t live without.

Welcome from the land of lurking OLd_gUY! If you can make the trip and want to see lights and chargers in person, do visit us our shop in San Jose. We would be happy to help you out with any questions you may have. I promise we don't bite!

As one old guy to another, welcome! :+1:

Thank you everyone for the welcome.

I like your profile picture.
Welcome to blf

Coarsegold, CA is real then…population 1840 in 2010.
I’m an expat from SF Valley, population a trillion.
This burg, we caught the census guy as we moved in and made him include us in the 2000 census and we mirrored it with 2000 people.
That’s in the winter…right now we are over double that by weekend and summer escapees from the inland heat, now 68F here, ocean influence.
You are almost in Yosemite. My parents met and married in Orange Cove. History!
Well, glad to have another mature soul on here. (gotta watch these youngun’s around here)

Thank you for the welcome guys. Chinhooker, check your PMs.

I live north of you up ahah 49.

You are in a great spot for a nice thrower or something which floods the area such as a Q8 or a D4S. I have both and find a use for a serious light almost nightly

It's nice to see you, OLd_gUY!

WOW! Thanks to one and all for the warm reception
You’ve brightened my day
Calaveras my daughter just recently moved from Valley Springs. And I think I saw that someone lives in Mariposa. Small world!
raccoon city - Bette Davis Eyes!!
Mike K how about “gas wars”, 10 cent comic books, Howdy Doody, etc. etc.
Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I’ll be sure to look into them.

So weird...

I just saw a horror comedy that featured the song Bette Davis Eyes!
