This got me curious and I measured voltage on led wires. vf of red led is definitely lower at 1.8V in lowest mode. Did not actually know this since I’m not familiar with color leds. So I assume its using a buck converter but I’m not really very knowledgable with drivers so not sure what output to expect if you replace it with white led with higher vf.

The leads control the voltage, not the pads. Shouldn’t be an issue.

Does anyone know if there’s a working code for this now?

395nm is fine for most things. Only certain substances need that shorter wavelength to fluoresce. Most things people would be looking at under UV (“pet stains”, scorpions, etc.) would fluoresce fine under 395nm.

I’ve even seen “UV” lights with just plain blue LEDs! Shocked

About the only thing that would make the light better (as in perfect Smile ) would be a faint faint glow under the switch to be able to find it when it’s black out. Last night I was being killed by a mosquito, and when I’d feel my toe get itchy and then even go numb(!), it got away by the time I flicked on the light. Ultimately, I had to put my DC7 on moonlight to get the switch lit, and later turn on “breathing” Sick to be able to turn off the light.

Some company recently had a “night light”(?) function like that… forgot who, but I think I mentioned them elsewhere. I think VOB reviewed the light. Imalent?

Most backlit-when-off switches are either just too bright, or too annoying (eg, “breathing” switches). When you’re asleep, you don’t want a creepy “breathing” switch glowing at you. At least I don’t. And my Cometa’s switch is so bright I have to lie it down with the switch facing away from me.

Just a faint, red, barely perceptible glow would be perfect. That way you can grab the light by instantly knowing where it is, and know instantly where the switch is, too.

Be the first to have that feature! LOL

Like this light a lot. Thanks Lightbringer for reviewing it. Managed to open the bezel with 2 strap wrenches. No heat and just enough force. Seems regular glue was used so a little heat should help. I’m still debating whether to replace the main LED with 4000K 351D and the red to a 2200K 351B. I really don’t like red led but might need it someday.

No worries!

I really like the ’351 that’s in there now. It’s a nice creamy white, lit up everything wonderfully in my skeeter-hunt, and was almost as floody as my Cometa.

That candlelight ’351 sounds nice, but I’ve been using red at night for peeking at the clock, etc., to not ruin my night vision. Kinda eerie when I hit it full blast. I feel like a rotisserie chicken. LOL

Maybe add some knurling? Especially to the tailcap. Wink

Do dive-lights have knurling in general?

I thought that with all the hoses, etc., you wouldn’t want anything particularly… abrasive… near them too much or too often.

I was thinking something along the lines of a stretchy rubber sleeve to fit around the narrower midsection. LuxPro lights have it embedded on their lights, and I’ve seen cheap AAA craplights with stretchy sleeves on them for texture/grip. Maybe even just as an add-in that someone could use or not as the case may be (like a clip, lanyard, etc.).

Welp, it was just a suggestion directed at MacLee's ^^^^ response as he alluded to an "upgrade". Wishful thinking on my part. Yeh, those little rayovacs AAA lights have that thin stretchy rubbery material that they use on the tubes. Works.

But OH, that tailcap on WK30 could use sumpin for sure. Smile

I imagine a knurled tailcap might be doable without too much fuss, no? Could be an add-on, like Convoy shorty tubes.

For the S2+, if you want a smaller light that takes an 18350 instead of an 18650, you can order the “shorty tube” to replace the come-with long tube.

The same way, if someone wants a knurled tailcap for the WK30, that can be made as an add-on, so someone can buy it separately (or it may be an option when buying the light itself).

That’s why I “noticed”(?) that lots of diving lights don’t have knurling. If someone wants to use the light on land, they can get the knurled cap as well.

Metal is very slick and you have to pinch hard to get good grip.

Knurling would give a good grip ~ will make it easy to turn

So basically red has low med high and no turbo compared to the white led. Haven’t swapped mine yet since I realized it’s my only light with red led on it.

Thanks for the readings – very useful.

OK, now I’m shopping for changes. Bought XP-G2 and Seoul Viosys UV 365nm Z5.
My plan is to:
- switch white to LH351D 4000K (yet from L4P) <— meant for close range
- switch red to XP-G2 de-domed / sliced <— meant for long range
- switch UV 390 to Seoul Viosys <— meant for… ummm… nothing?

I wish all the modes had more amperage, but that seems way beyond my capability. Anyway, would you advice any changes? Is Seol UV good choice? Considering rather low power: is there any commonly available LED that could throw further with this Amps?

Could not resist. Swapped leds: White to 219C 5700K, Red to SST-20 2700K.

Measured (lumens):
219C (5700K) – 5, 120, 402, 901
SST-20 (2700K) – 1, 115, 326

White LED lost some output but I need the high CRI 5700K for work more than the stock 5000K LH351D although those are actually nice for general usage. The tint of the 219C 5700K (from jaxman) is quite nice and even a little bit rosier than the 5000+6500K e21A mix that I have. Will replace UV with 365nm but I only have Nichias at the moment and those, I realized, use different pads.

LOL

And I’m going crazy just trying to find a decent (molle) holster for it.

Got some Jetbeam holsters that fit tubelights perfectly, but it’s quite snug trying to stuff a ’30 into it.

Ordered some Convoy C8 holsters, just got ‘em, perfect width but the flap is looooooooooooong. Yeah, scratch that, they’re going to hold actual C8s instead.

Saw some “universal”(?) holsters at FT which are adjustable out the wazoo that are a good 2’ wide, so those might work.

Any suggestions, let’s hear ‘em. Smile

I got a Convoy holster that fits it perfect. Hhhmmm, not the biggest Convoy holster - not sure of size though.

Just measured mine - it's 45 mm across, from edge to edge, maybe 50 mm including the 18650 holder. Open up, its about 22.7 cm long. Closed it's about 130 mm with the Velcro aligned. With the WK30 in it, you only get about 1/3 down the Velcro, so the light is a little too long but still fastens well. Width wise it's good.

So I guess it's not perfect - I'm guessing it's the S2+/S3 holster but the spec'd dims look weird. Dunno why it's so hard to get simple well defined specs on these things...

Thanks for the recommendation Lightbringer! I just ordered mine for $29.99 with that coupon code! It’ll be here on Thursday and I’ll test it out on my Tarantula.

Good ease for many.
Do you send all pieces directly from China?

I like this light so much that I’m considering purchase of another one. It’s like having 3 flashlights in one.

If you ever want to make my dream come true, please release BLF version with each of 3 leds powered at least 3A.

This would be nice. Maybe an LT1 style driver with tint mixing for the 2 leds and a separate channel for the UV.

This is exactly what I was thinking when I was reading the specs. Thumbs Up

I would appreciate an advanced WK30S with following features:

✔ Cree XP-E2 deep red (660nm) instead of XP-E2 red (630nm) to better maintain nightvision capability

✔ LG LEUVA33W70RL00 365nm UV LED instead of LG LEUVA33U70UL00 395nm for more output and more effective UV spectrum (maybe incl. ZWB2 filter)

✔ USB port moved into the thread section between head and battery tube for better ingress protection and less wear & tear with rubber boot and microUSB port

✔ USB-C port with QC 2.0 (18W) charging circuit

✔ knurling on tailcap (and battery tube) for better tactile handling

I think this may increase costs by less than $ 10.
