Wuben L50 / Thorfire TK15S: Great Value

Coming from using my Armyteks over the last few months mostly for night shifts I was shocked how good the Wuben L50 and the Thorfire T15S are for a fraction of the price (Wuben 18 USD flash deal as complete package and Thorfire under 10 USD without battery/charger).

The Wuben L50 has a weird but excellent reverse clicky which is very responsive thanks to a short travel time. And the USB port is water resistant even with the cover open (no water ingress with open port after 1h) - something way more expensive lights don’t get.

The Thorfire TK15S has strobe on mode memory which makes it great for self defense purposes as any light where strobe requires more than a single crude slam on a easy-to-find mechanical switch might have as well no strobe mode at all. (You will not be able to finde the strobe mode in a high stress situation.)

Here is my review:

I think the ’15 is in desperate need of some lube on the tailcap threads. That scratch-scratch-scratch screwing/unscrewing it creeped me out.

But yeah, Wubens tend to be bigger/longer lights than others. My Wuben i332 is pretty much the same exact dimensions as my Nitecore MH20, both have usb charging, yet the ’20 takes an 18650 whereas my i332 only fits a 16340!

Thx, yes, some silicone grease would serve the light well  The Wuben L50 is big but it helps with the heat sinking too. It is a superb package for beginners IMHO, safe and simple.

I ordered a Wuben L50S that has a OSRAM P9 LED. This is my first Wuben, and first OSRAM P9 LED torch.

Is the OSRAM P9 a good LED? Are Wuben torches good?

It was on a flash sale yesterday on Amazon for $22 for the silver colored version. It was more of a spontaneous purchase. I didn’t research before buying it like I typically do. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TFDQRZW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I don’t have the Wuben L50 but I do have some other lights from them and what I can tell you is that they are well built, they are normally very efficient flashlights and without major issues.

I had the Wuben E10 that uses an Osram P9 Led. The Led has a more or less cool white tint, has some thorw (under a Smooth reflector), and seems to be an efficient LED too. Here’s the review in case you wanna check it: “REVIEW”: Wuben E10 – Osram P9 - 1200 Lumens [Beamshots - post #15] (Pic Heavy)
On the BEAMSHOTS part you’ll find some information, and also here .

The only thing that may be or not so good is the UI, as normally they have memory for the last used mode. I am not sure if the SOS is in the main cycle. If not, that will be a nice flashlight you get

Thank you for the information.

:+1:

In true Amazon Prime fashion, I got my Wuben L50S order in no time flat.

I like the flat silver color of the host. No sharp surfaces, perfectly machined host. All the markings line up nicely (i.e. Wuben branding, model name, serial number, caution hot marking). Classy looking.

Nice glass lens sounds decently thick when tapping on it with a key. Beautiful smooth reflector looks deep, should be an okay thrower. LED is tiny, and looks perfectly centered.

The tail clicky button is small, but feels pretty solid, not mushy, and activates quickly. I wasn’t sure how I would like the charging port on the tail next to the clicky button, but it doesn’t get in the way at all. It actually keeps the look and feel of the host nice and clean, classy. Weird to me that the torch has an SOS mode, but no strobe. Seems opposite of all other torches out there.

Initially, unscrewing the tail cap was very stiff, and didn’t feel or sound very smooth. After putting Super Lube on it, it feels and sounds fine. The L50S tail stands, but the cut outs for thumb activation causes it to rock a bit. Not the most stable, but works if not bumped into.

Inside the house testing shows a nice clean light beam. But, I will be able to better test it tonight on my nightly walk.

The torch was a great deal for $22 due to it coming with a 18650 2600 mAh Wuben branded battery and a micro USB charging cable. It also comes with a nice lanyard, removable pocket clip, and two extra o-rings. Wuben also spent some money on a decent product box.
