I can’t seem to find what the mode groups actually are in Bistro, just that UI chart. Does anybody know the modes and their % output listings in each group?

Go crazy…

      5. Mode group. Choice of 1 to 6 regular modes from low to turbo,
or one of 3 special groups. After clicking, the light should
come on in a special group-select mode. In this mode, it
slowly blinks 9 times, pauses, then repeats. Turn the light
off after N blinks to select mode group N.
The mode groups are: (output is approximate)

         1. 1300 lm only
         2. 8, 1300 lm
         3. 8, 235, 1300
         4. 8, 104, 506, 1300
         5. 8, 75, 254, 642, 1300
         6. 8, 50, 167, 366, 757, 1300
         7. 140, 1300, strobe
            (police modes)
         8. bike flasher, battcheck, 8, 140, 1300
            (biking modes)
         9. 4, 36, 140, 500, 1300
            (like group 5 but lower)

I have an honest question. I am not slamming this light in any way whatsoever. I genuinely want to know. Is there really any difference between this and the numerous C8 and it’s variances? If I am missing something I will snatch one up in a second. Maybe I am totally over looking something. I’m not sure. I have a C8 with a FET driver and XPL-HI, it’s great, I love it. Have on of those Sofirn C8A’s, 1700 lumens with a XPL-HD I believe. Not as throwy as the HI but a nice C8 none the less. I have a Convoy BD06 with a White Flat with a 8 chip convoy driver. That White Flat is just a different kind of throwy animal. Amazing really, even in a BD06. That LED screams for a bigger reflector.

If I am missing something please oh please let me know and I will grab one.

Thanks guys.

Hi, this light is one level more compact than C8 - more like Eagle eye X6 or C8 mini. I have the first version and I like the build quality and also the retro look - main selling points, as the size difference is not that substantial.

I definitely like the looks of it. Looks very well built. Nice to hear it’s a bit smaller than a C8, that is great selling point. Always enjoyed my C8’s but, they aren’t exactly pocket friendly. For $27 and some change it won’t hurt too much to get one in my hands.

Thank you so much.

No, this light uses Flintrock's Bistro OTSM, he made totally different mode groups. The list was never lay-outed properly (anyone?) but it goes something like this ( his writing) and the D80V2 comes by default in group 12 (with hidden turbo) :

TURBO, 0, // 1: 1 mode group
           ONE7135, TURBO, 0, // 2: 2 mode Group
           ONE7135, ALL7135s, TURBO, 0, //3: You should get the idea by now….
4, ONE7135, ALL7135s, TURBO, 0, // 4: 4 mode group that has turbo in the main modes instead of just in the hidden modes.

           4, ONE7135, ALL7135s, 0 // muggle mode,

What does the “0” in all group modes mean?

I'm willing to help out here but first we need to get it more comprehensible and "muggle-friendly", i.e. we need to translate these words like "ONE7135" or "ALL7135" into actual values (percentage of output, current or even lumens depending on the emitter). Once that is done, I can set up something like a convenient spreadsheet.

This question was asked a few weeks ago in Docc’s D80 thread also, but no one responded to that. Most is obvious for flashoholics at least (ONE 7135=350mA, ALL7135=2.1A) (there are 6x7135’s in the driver), but the precise meaning of the other levels was not explained by anyone. Maybe a makeshift table is a good temporary idea, just tidying up this lay-out.

I tried to get some numbers out of the PWM tables here ~toykeeper/flashlight-firmware/trunk : contents of Flintrock/bistro-hd/modegroups/modegroups-TA-triple-v1.3plus.h at revision 249
But when i look at the end of the code (they are giving some numbers on a single XP-L LED) i do not belive that i can get the % out of the code allone.
So i want to take some measurements (the current from each step in each mode group). With this numbers it will be easy possible to get the % for a more understandable Mode Group list.

Djozz, I did not post anything on the D80 V2 thread yet as I was still discussing the feasibility of an comprehensible overview with TheOnlyDocc. As soon as TheOnlyDocc has finished measuring the current I try to set up something and post it here on BLF (and maybe revise the manual as well).

:+1: that will be appreciated by many, and hopefully by WildTrail also.

Ready to ship:

Ordered mine, got email that it’s on the way, let me see how long it takes to get here, went with free shipping.

:sunglasses:

I already have one from the group buy. But I’m sorta thinking about maybe getting another one… maybe.

Mine is on its way as well. :+1:

Some people collect cars or other things, most of the time I’m unable to afford any of them so I collect flashlights. :person_facepalming:
