Has anybody experimented with or have any experience with Pre Collimator lenses , I have read several people reference them on BLF but as yet not seen an actual examples?
I did some experimentation with precollimator lenses here:
It takes some fiddling with lens type and position (which is not very simple to explain), but the result is that it about doubles the beam area and lumens while keeping the beam lux nearly the same. The light collection efficiency of a typical aspheric lens light is so terrible that I tend to avoid them out of principle, but using a precollimator helps a lot.
