Small question about the emisar d4

hello, my lens cracked on the emisar d4, and i have put some clear tape on it to keep the glass shards from coming out of place until i receive the replacement optic. while doing that though i didnt pay attention to where the small white gasket was originally. i found this in the review of TLR

Note: Prior to this test, the head was disassembled and the O-ring was found to be between the lens and optics. The O-ring was then placed between the head and lens instead for this test.

so where should the o-ring ( i think the white thing hes describing here is a gasket but not sure) be for best waterproofing?
