Astrolux MF01S

Today I received my Astrolux MF01S.

My question is the use of the extension tube. As I look at both of the battery holders — There isn’t a locating pin hole that orients correctly the stock factory end cap in either.

If anyone runs an extension tube how did you resolve using the stock end cap with that locating pin ??

In ordered mine last week. Where did you get the extension tube from?

What color did you pick up?

I ordered a couple of them with all the accessories — One Black and one Red.

The extension tubes can only be ordered in Black.

I ordered a month ago from Banggood.

To my question — I looked a bit closer and It looks like one has to remove the battery end piece in the stock cap by removing the phillips screw and remove the complete assembly. I’m not going touch until this question is answered.

I believe that tube will only work with the MF01, not the MF01s. The 01 had battery carriers. The MF01s doesn’t use battery carriers but has the machined carrier integrated into the tube.

Can anyone verify - To use the extension tube … … … One can’t re-use the stock tube end cap.

If this is a true statement — Does one then need to use the DYI Flashlight End Cap.

Thanks … …

Thanks — Looks I’ve made a mistake.

Thanks for your help !!

Mistake? Opportunity! Now you need a MF01!

I ordered 2 of everything — Maybe 2 MF01’s … … … :^)

Mine just cleared customs, time to order batteries. Either button or flat unprotected correct? Trying to decide button 30q’s or flat molicells.anyrhing better?

 It’s not a bad light. About a year ago we had a power test (do it annually) in our work building where they exercise all the power switches/breakers (big ones) and I brought the MF01 in for light while the power was out. People said it “was brighter than the sun”. http://www.capellatowerat225.com/

Batteries — I ordered Samsung 30Q’s … … With my limited testing tonight — They seem to perform well.

That’s a tall building !!

Button or flats?

Good choice. My MF01 is running on 30q’s.

Buttons … …

You do need the cap frim the MF01 or MF02 for the extension tube to work with the mf01s. I habe it and it works well.

I wondered if by changing the end cap that the tube could be used on the MF01S as that is where I ran into a problem.

I think I’ll order a couple of the DYI End Caps and see if it works.

Thanks for your insight !!

As an experiment I used a set of protected EVVA 3500ma protected batteries. Slightly longer so I didn’t tighten the end cap tight. Light works fine on all settings except Turbo — Where it instantly shuts off as the protection circuit kicks in on the batteries. They just can’t deliver the amperage needed on this setting. The 30Q’s work perfectly.

Also did another experiment using the Lightning and Candle modes — Short video.

The camera really struggled to capture — Much better in person.
