Sale alert Klarus ST10

I saw that goinggear had this single AA light for $37, but when I went to get it, it was on backorder. Everyone else wants $57 for it, some had a sale at $46.

I found an ebay seller that has it for $39.91 with free shipping, so I ordered it from them. Their sale lasts 2 more days. It's my kind of light; a quality, single AA with an XP-G and a moonlight mode. Looks very similar to the Zebralight version which is $69, to pricey for me.

Nice light too bad I don’t use aa

Ever since the power outtage here in San Diego, I have been increasing my supply of AA batteries and AA lights.

Without power, you can't recharge 18650 lights, and indoors AA lights are better for getting around without blinding people. I have a whole new appreciation for smaller lights with alkaline power sources.

Agreed +1

Free shipping must be within US only. $33 to UK..

I use cr123 supplied for that;). And about 20 rechargeables lol

Oh and aaa:)

Yeah and with the increased power that AA lights have, they compare to some of the CR123s from a few years ago.

I like CR123 lights, and I have a supply of about 30 Cr123 batteries. Problem is that they are too expensive, especially if you don't order them online. Plus Cr123 lights are generally brighter, so there is no run-time advantage to having them.

AA's are available everywhere for the cheap. You can get 40 at Costco for 10 or 11 bucks, and the lights I've been ordering lately can run for several days on just one AA.

Plus a 40-pack of AA's will power my TK41 for 5 cycles (using 8 batteries per cycle), at 270 hours per cycle, that is 1350 hours, divided by approx 8 hours of runtime per night, that will last me 169 days.

One last thought about AA batteries and AA flashlights.

If TEOTWAWKI really happens, money isn't going to be worth much, but necessary commodities will.

AA flashlights and AA batteries will be good for trading for other necessities that you may not have at hand.I also recommend stockpiling toilet paper, bleach, and coffee filters.

Nice light. It's a little bit of an oddball with that mode button on the front though.

I like that you can use that button to change modes without having to engage your thumb at the tailswitch.

BTW, even Manafont has this light listed at $54.41, and their prices are usually pretty good.

Anyone tried to make this light into 2xAA light with some kind of extension tube? If so, hows the output, comparable to ST20 or less?
Could some of you light pros tell what to expect if adding another AA to ST10, I mean, they both seem to be identical except for the battery count!

BTW, Im all for NiMh AA lights, its the perfect battery readily available almost everywhere+its theoretically much safer than lithium batteries.

Safety aside, Im planning all my lights but the smallest EDC's to be AA only, so Im looking now for best AA throwers, both 2xAA and 3/4xAA!

It's only rated at 1.8v, it will go poof in you exceed the voltage.

Just buy the ST20 instead, it is a 2xAA light

My OP is dated the 12th, and the light was in my mailbox here in San Diego on the 17th. I think that is pretty darn fast shipping, especially since the Post Office was closed on Sunday (the 15th) and Monday (MLK day), and it shipped from the east coast.

The Klarus is pretty impressive. It is about 1/2 inch longer than a Xeno E03, but the Xeno only has two brightness modes and the Klarus has 4. It also is a forward-clicky, and once clicked on the brightness is changed by a firm "click" on the side switch, which is nice for normal (not LEO) carry. Great fit and finish, very solid light, I feel lucky to have purchased one for less than $40. Oh, and for a small single AA light, this thing is a thrower. Very tight and well-defined hotspot.

It came in a nice factory box with a holster, extra switch, "O" rings, and lanyard. No complaints.

Wait a minute guys. This light is a AA light. For those who want a 2xAA they make the ST20. Same thing except it's brighter and longer. I received one last week and it's a good light. I like the UI. Goinggear has it for $39.95 but I notice it's on backorder now.

Having said this, for about the same money (using the discount code) if you want 2xAA, you can buy a Shiningbeam Caveman. I would take the Caveman over the Klarus ST20 anyday.

Chidwack, tell me more about how the two compare. I got my ST10 and really like the thumb clicky to change modes, and love the moonlight low. So I'm tempted to get the ST20 for $40, even though I already have the Caveman.

Too bad no 14500!

That’s why I want it…readily available AA batteries for the coming zombie apocalypse…

I also like the front button for mode change. I very seldom hold my light overhand. I like underhand better and I always have to change my hold to change modes with a light that is tail clicky only. I really like the feel of the light. It's a lot smaller in diameter than your Caveman and weighs less. It doesn't feel as sturdy or like it has the build quality of the Caveman but what light does? I like that the ST20 tail stands.

As far as performance, the ST20 is on par with the Klarus P2A and Jetbeam BA20. Output, beam quality, throw, spill, brightness and battery life is almost identical and they cost the same price. My Caveman looks a little brighter and has more spill because it's an XM-L but still not a lot of difference.

Of my 2xAA lights, the Caveman is my favorite followed by the Klarus ST20 and then the Klarus P2A and Jetbeam BA20 which are almost identical in every way except a slight difference in the body shape. My Quark AA2 Tactical is my least favorite 2XAA lights.

You will probably really like the ST20 if you feel you really need another 2xAA light. If it were me, I would pay an extra $10 or so and buy a Blaze. That's a great light. Wonderful shape and feel with the quality of the Caveman and the output of a Zebralight SC600 but about 1/2 the money of the Zebralight. It has great heat sinking and doesn't suffer from a heat issue like the SC600 which has to have a step down to protect the light. The Blaze and Caveman are 2 lights that I own where I'm actually thinking of getting another of each of them because I like them so much.
