Sofirn SP36 XPL2 or LH351D?

Which one should I get? PROS and CONS.
I know that XPL2 variants emits more lumens, but the LH351D’s spread is wider.
Thank you.

I guess the spread will be very similar. From my point,
if there is difference only few hundredrs lumen in a few thousend lumens lights, you won’ t almost see any jump
the max outpout is irrelevant, because the light will handle it just a tens of second before step down

The more you appreciate is a light quality with hi cri light.Yes, xpl2 is more efficiante, but the multicolored low cri tint is not what you want for general use light.

LH351d shows a more or less green, but you will notice this on a white wall, not much outside.

Go for LH351d version.

’351. You’ll thank me later.

Even people who don’t normally make much of a fuss about tint or color rendering often hate the rainbow looking beam of the XP-L2. The LH351D is the easy choice here.

Thank you now. :slight_smile:
Oh, and I see the XPL variant has Narsil and LH351 has Anduril.

That (Narsil vs Anduril) can be changed - but it is annoying. Given similar prices, I’d go for the Anduril one every time.

The LED coloration is pretty close, and to be honest, if I hadn’t had one of each in a white room, I’m not sure I’d have noticed any real difference.

Try a G3. Urine-colored beam at an angle, white head-on, even used as a mule (no optix at all).

Hideous, hideous, hideous in a reflector. Not just a fried-egg beam, but a hideous urine-colored corona around a yellowish hotspot surrounded by a cold-white spill. :confounded:

I got G3s in all my Luxpro lights, and need super-diffused film to blend the beam and make it not so hideous. Ain’t bad as wide-flood lights now, as they’re AA powered (the 2×D I have the not-so-diffusey film on it, and it’s still okay).

+1

I swapped the XPL2’s with the ugly corona as well, what a difference!

351’s and don’t look back. I picked up the SP36 BLF version to back up my Q8’s. I really like it better, better hand hold, better tint and just better! I do really like XP-l hi 5a3 and 5a2, if I ever got a second one… I would try it with either one.

The SP36 is not as bad as those small EDC lights, if the step-down temperature is not set too conservative (say 60 degrees), it will run for a couple of minutes before stepdown starts.

I agree on the LH351D. I lended my SP36 (with 3500K 90 CRI LH351D leds) to a friend who lives in a more rural area and he did a couple of night walks with it (I’m living in the city so I can not test my own lights properly), he appreciated the brute output (he always likes MOAR light) but specifically he was very impressed by the good light quality.

XPL2 vs LH351D;

cool white vs neutral white;

NarsilM vs Anduril

They are both nice.

And there is another version SP36S with LH351D leds, easier sofirn UI, 9V 2A quick charge compatibility.

When can we have both Anduril and QC?

I just ordered both XPL2 and LH351D versions of the SP36 today on Aliexpress with the 11/11 discounts and coupons for Christmas gifts. I’ll do some output and tint measurements. I bought the non Anduril version, which should be muggle friendly.

I have both. I tend to pick the LH351D version more often, because I prefer the warmer tint and the colors it shows.

Thank you all!

I ordered the LH351D version.
