PT Solo

So I have this old headlamp, a Princeton Tec Solo. Runs off 2xAA (they had a 4xAA version, might be the Vortex?) and originally came with a brighter xenon and longer running krypton bulbs, though I replaced them with a MJLED PR drop in. Really one of my all time favorite headlamps. Nicely balanced hotspot and spill with the pre-focused pill-style light engine, light, tough and VERY waterproof. I don’t remember the exact spec but I want to say it was rated to 500ft. Hard to find that type of water resistance in these days of IPx lights only rated to 1 meter. I’d love to replace it with something kind of similar but more modern. Maybe around 300-500lm max with a nice low and, of course, strong water resistance. Looking through different manufactures I don’t see these waterproof lights being offered much without spending useless money on a professional (aka certified) light.

I have plenty of decent headlamps these days, but that old one is the only one I’d trust on a night fishing kayak or the like…

I would check out some of the Zebralight headlamps. I would definitely trust any of mine around water. I edc the sc52, the flashlight version of the h52 headlamp, and it has no issue with water.
I use it daily at my job , as a die setter, and it gets filthy.
Almost daily, I set it in our shop sink, under the water, and clean it with hand cleaner while i’m cleaning up.
I rinse it good under the water, dry it off with a shop rag and it’s good to go again.
I consider it a tool that I use daily.
I’ve been doing that 5 days a week with the sc52, for a couple of years and it still performs flawlessly.
