Artifacts on c8 with flat white 1

I have ghosted petals on the beam pattern, what’s the best way to remediate this?

Unfortunately those petals are proof that you have a good reflector and have the correct centering and focus (they are there because the die is square and not round). So anything to remove those petals will decrease throw :stuck_out_tongue:

Good to know I have the same problem on my C8+ and L21A with white flats adjusted for hours

I don’t get this.

You buy a White flat to be able shoot the beam hundreds of meters away and yet you want to have it look pretty at 15 feet?
Horses for courses.

Get outside and play!

My prettiest thrower beam is from a Vinh modified Maxtoch X Pro with White Flat 2mm in it. The Maxtoch reflector is super smooth and makes for very pronounced petals. Since 2mm whitey is rectangular and not square, two of the petals are larger than their counterparts:

I have fiddled with a white flat in a BD06, on and off, for months now. I can’t get it to look that good. It still looks quite horrible, though it does still throw quite well. I shall revisit that little project again sometime soon. I had a SST-20 I was going to throw in it but I think I will give the white flat another try.

I threw my c8 in the trash can, driver, emitter and all out of pure frustration. Grabbed it the next morning and decided to give it another shot. I carefully reamed the gasket to get a bit more play and vigorously shook the reflector while the bezel was slightly loose then tightening and rinse and repeating until I won the lottery and the petals formed in almost a unison formation. At that point I was pleased enough to say this is as close as I’m going to get without going mentally insane.

That’s awesome. Sounds like something I would do. Now I just throw them in a drawer I never look in anymore. I run across them eventually. Found 3 Amutorch AA/14500 lights and four S2+’s that I can’t remember what emitter I put in them. One is around 5000K and two more at around 4000K. I have no clue as to why they were in that drawer. They work fine. I get flustered when my hands and eye’s don’t work to my expectations.

Indeed, it can get quite frustrating! Persevere and you will be rewarded

I have those on my SST40 FT03. Are they normal for that light?
