Hi to everyone from a torch fanatic :)

My question is this need a head torch that runs on aa batteries as have 20 spare whats good whats a rip off is ebay anygood amazon any good.

Or if you are willing to shell out more $, get the zebralight counterpart.

if those spares are alkalines, get something like this that uses 3 or more cells. if you stick an alkaline in a single cell, high drain light, you run the risk of leakage.

Hi terryuk22, welcome to BLF. There's a huge choice of head torches that run on AA. You don't really say much about your priorities or selection criteria. Is budget an issue? Do you want the torch for everyday use such as cycling in all types of weather? Or for occasional work use? Does it need to be super bright, or would you be using it for close-up work? Etc..

I install satellite which often runs into night time and often do cable's in attics zero light.

Budget cheap as they come runtime longer the better (i often lose them hence the cheap)

I have lots of duracells recharge and 2 or 3 12 volt car chargers

Extremely useful magnetic tail and an adjustable head. No headband included but you can buy these seperately-there's at least one thread about this, but I'm in too much of a rush to dig it out. My only minor niggle with this torch is that its beam is a bit narrow for a perfect work light, but you can get diffusers (or fashion one yourself). A piece of tissue would do in a pinch. Amazing value for money, and much better made than they look in the seller's pics.

EDIT:

Of the two, my first choice would be the green one. Only problem is the delivery time; it varies from absolute minimum of two weeks (if you're lucky) to anything up to 6 weeks with this seller. The ebay one got to me in about 15 days, but this is the wrong time of year to be looking for speedy delivery from any of these Chinese sellers due to their holiday season.

I just got that green one in the mail from DX. I am impressed with it. I got in on the $7 deal and wish I had bought half a dozen.
It is not a headlamp strictly speaking but I could see it used that way. I put a piece of clear duct tape over the lens and it acted like a diffuser for better flood in close up work. Takes some of the brightness away so I may look into scotch tape or something else but it is still plenty bright so I may not bother. Great light for the money.
The Ultrafire H2 is good as well but costs 3x as much. It also has a magnetic tail cap and runs on a single AA. It comes with a headband already. It is much more flood so if you need something for up close, it is a good light. It is also much more compact than the green boy.
