CR2 battery and charger Q's

I recently got a mini Comunite 600lm (claimed) rail light with a single CREE XP-G R5 LED in it. Right now I only have a few CR2 that are not rechargeable, and their runtime is abysmal, about 25 minutes.

I have no charger for rechargeable CR2’s which are too short for my Xtar VC4 or Intellicharger I4. I “can” shim the neg side of the battery to charge them but I wonder if that’s recommended on either?

Anyway, looking on feebay, CR2 specific chargers are few and have capacity limited to two. That said, are there any “smart” battery charger (4+ cell preferred) brands will charge the CR2’s? And which brand battery will provide the longest runtime and the most accurate amphour rating?

Try looking for 16340. CR2 refers to the non-rechargeable chemistry. You can also look for that number in the supported batteries lists. It is also sometimes called RCR2.
My chargers all work fine with them shrug

Thanks, I’ll look into them but I understand that the 16340 is a CR123 replacement and is 9mm longer than my CR2’s which I found are RCR2 and 15270 in re-chargeable chemistry. Unfortunately there’s over 1/8 of an inch gap putting the non rechargeables in my two chargers.

I… Oh. My brain is broken. Sorry, you’re right. I got nothing. Disregard my post entirely.

It’s a 15270 if that helps.

Thanks, I ordered a couple of brands and hopefully some will work well.

There are several USB-powered magnetic charging cable options available, from reputable manufacturers, that would easily recharge the 15270 (CR2-sized) lithium-ion cells (Olight and Nitecore come immediately to mind, also Prometheus [aka DarkSucks], and others.) These chargers use a magnetic terminal that is attached to the two poles of the cell to be recharged, and automatically adjust the charge current to match the cells's requirements. (It's magic!)  Most use a charging current of about 750mA, so check your wee cells for compatibility.

Cost is about US$10. Check 'em out. Just search "Magnetic USB Charger."
