CF FX17A driver: How to switch modes??

Hi all. Built a C8 with a XPH50-2 led and an CF FX17A driver. Powered by a Samsung 18650 (2500mAh)
Question is this: When i turn it on, it is ramping up and down so it starts dim, withing .5 of a second its gone to full brightness then ramping back down this then repeats.
So i found this:”

Group 1:
Lo(5) > Med(40) > Hi(100%)

Group 2:
Lo(5) > Med(40) > Hi(100%) > Str > SOS

(Go to Low Mode, wait for 10 seconds. When you see the light is flashing (one time only), you need to half pressed the switch. You can switch to Group 1 (3-Mode) or Group 2 (5-Mode).”

And SOMEHOW yesterday i got it flashing SOS out. But when i removed the battery, it went back to ramping up and down.

This is the driver:

Could someone please explain how i change the mode on this thing??
Thanks and, if you celebrate it, Merry Christmas.

In the description says “- auto detect LED type (2 cells to support CREE XHP / MT-G2 LED)”
Are you using a 3v XHP50.2? If not it should work only with 2 batteries, in that host only if you use 2 cr123, 2 16340 or 2 18350!

My apologies, the led is:
Cree XM-L White 6500K Led Emitter with KDLITKER DTP Copper MCPCB

On one cell (18650) it fades in and out as i described. With 2 cells (18650) the behaviour is very different.
The flash light is on permanently, and pressing the tail cap switch (forward clicky) makes the torch vary its brightness when i click the switch but it looks VERY under-powered.

UPDATE: I think i have solved it. Uploading a video as i write this, you all might find it interesting.

Illuminated tail cap is the issue. Question is, why???

So looking like i need a bleeder resistor.
More reading and soldering…
Great….
