Sofirn SC31B

The Sofirn SC31B comes as a complete kit including the 18650 battery, micro-usb cable, pocket clip, instruction manual, and a spare o-rings. The machining and anodization of the flashlight are excellent. The knurling on the body is really nice and helps to improve your grip especially if your hands are wet or if you’re wearing gloves. The 1000 lumens on high is plenty bright for most everyday tasks however it will only stay on that setting for 3 minutes before stepping down to avoid getting too hot. There are 3 other output levels going all the way down to 10 lumens. The flashlight also has a strobe mode. The side switch is rubber with a hidden LED behind it. That LED shows your battery status when you turn the flashlight on, will blink while using the light if your battery is getting low, and displays the status while charging. It will flash blue while charging and turn solid blue when fully charged. Another feature of that hidden LED is a mode option called breathing. The LED will slowly flash a blue light like a beacon to allow you to find the light in the dark. It is a very low power consumption and that mode could last for several days. The flashlight does have a pocket clip and fits in your pocket well however it’s not deep carry so almost an inch sticks up out of your pocket. The flashlight has built-in charging via the micro-usb port. You do not have to take the battery out and you can use any 18650 battery which is nice. The included battery is 2200 mAh but I wish Sofirn would’ve included their 3000 mAh one to give longer runtimes. I’ve been using this flashlight around the house and when out with the dog but also plan to use it when camping and fishing. It easily lights up my entire back yard which is about 1/3 acre.

Thanks for the great information. I’m thinking of getting this model and was just reading up on it when I found your write up.
I prefer the side switch lights like this. I’ve always found them to be more comfortable than a rear clicky light.

This is a great light. I use it everyday and so far it performs without fail (have had it for 2 mos) - it is very bright and UI is very straightforward. Easy to charge. Gave 2 as Christmas gifts. Sofirn makes great flashlights.

I like mine too, especially since I added some DC-Fix. Still throws well but really smoothed out the spot/spill transition and seems to lower the color temp just a bit. Now it also works much better if I need to take a quick look at something up close without ramping down.

Surprisingly comfortable in the hand as is and if you want to EDC, get some shorty tubes and an 18350.

I found this light to be very nice. It is a great gifter to someone not into fancy UIs or pocket rocketry. Did you find the charger to take a long time to terminate on yours?
