Lights you would not buy again if you were to do it over?

I was going over my collection tonight, pulling out batteries and testing them, sort of got re-acquainted with some of the lights I've purchased that I haven't used in awhile.

Realized I had still really like all of them, except for two.

The first one I bought based on looks, and I think it is still the best-looking light in my collection, the Yezl S2 http://www.cnqualitygoods.com/goods.php?id=1069

Problem is it has a crappy aspheric and a crappy beam. I might have been able to forgive that, if it has 3 nice modes and no strobe, but it has High/Med/Strobe. Definitely a shelf queen, all show and no go.

I don't even know the name of the other one, but I bet a lot of you would recognize it. It's an 18650 light with a satin bezel, an XR-E emitter and a MAGNETIC MODE RING. Might as well be a mood ring, what a waste of money that one was. I am so done with XR-E emitters in p-60 size lights. Save 'em for the AAA lights...

But I think those two are the only ones I regret.

Long before I found this forum I spent well over 300 dollars for this 100 lumen beauty.

Now a 30 dollar 800 lumen 501A dishes out some dazzling blindness.

Just off the top of my head:

Overready orange cerakote 6p with extender

Lumens Factory Seraph (I had no idea it was a $6 Skyray)

HDS hi-CRI Clicky

A dozen 4 sevens lights

ZL SC600w (go figure)

DQG AA

Macs Customs 3300L

There are more, but I've already proven to be an idiot so I'll stop here. :)

Yezl Z1

Real POS. I think the annodizing is really paint, ringy beam, crappy switch and if I don't tighten everything down as hard as I can, it flickers constantly or turns off. Bought it as a budget S-Mini. You get what you pay for.

Edit: I do love the size and form, though. I will have an S-Mini some day...

Really? I never knew that? Is it really a 6$ skyray?

Fenix E11..nice looking light but beam looks horrible. Anyone interested on buying .lol

I have a couple that I wouldn't buy again. One will surprise some folks because it is liked by many people but mine is a lemon and I wouldn't do it again.

Xeno E03 Mine has acted up from the start.

Monster Flashlight Pro C7 C This one should be better for a light that cost over $50.

Well its $8 at manafont. I can’t seem to find it at DX or KD. Its also the host for the Deft EDC.

Wow, those are some expensive mistakes.

Almost forgot; my KD C8.

True, it has a fantastic beam, just like everyone said. But mine is NOISY in all three modes, seriously noisy.

And I truly hate blinky modes. Can you just swap in a new pill for the C8?

Another one I wouldn't buy is my Quark AA2 Tactical. Not that it's not a good light, it's just that I like my Jetbeam BA20, Klarus P2A, Klarus ST20 and especially my Shiningbeam Caveman better and all were quite a bit less expensive.

Shiningbeam S-mini. Nice form and clip but most ugly green tint.

Any Aurora light

Akoray K-106 - too expensive for a couple minutes playing with the modes

Sipik sk-58 - total crap, dim, construction quality is bad, driver the most inefficient thing I've ever seen (but maybe I bought a fake sk58, dunno)

Energizer X-focus - crappier than the sk-58 even

So not much waste of money here, I guess.

interesting thread.

mitro you were to list the ones which you regretted buying. and not list your full collection :)

if you want to get it fixed, no problem. it is a very primitive torch (as most torches are lol), easily disassembled, with FREE parts from your XENO distributor (he can order your broken parts FREE from the manufacturer who in turn would ship them with the next major shipment to the distributor. then the distributor would send you the parts with regular conus). you might still regret the purchase, your right. the only reason i regret the purchase is that i make more use of my other 1x AA torches and i could have gone without the Xeno with no problem.

A lot of my XR-E lights , Love XM-L ... XR-E hardly gets a look in these days

Solar Force Skyline 1
Bought it for throw but it sucks with 18650s.

Thrunite Neutron 1a - got my money back so no loss.

BLF edition Tank007 - Sorry, despite good intentions, this one was a stinker.

That’s interesting. My S-mini has a “neutral tint” but it is actually pretty yellowish, almost like an incandescent.

Any alumium UF C3 .... I had a near 100% failure rate on 4+ lights (contact issues) ... different models ... different vendors ... they suck. The sellers should provide a mandatory repair kit with every alu C3... like include 2 copper rings.

Sure, see here at International Outdoor. You can even choose your mode options.
