Is there Someone that Can Help with a Problem Light??

Hey all.

One of my favorite little lights is one I got from Amazon for about $3. It’s one of the AA size zoom lights. Never had a problem and I keep it handy all the time. I know it’s an el cheapo but it’s worked great for me.

Last year I started looking to get one of its BIG BROTHERS, the SK98. It’s the same light but takes the 18650 cell. I was looking for recommendations on which version of it to buy when a member sent me a message and offered to give me one that he had been working on. He said it has more power than the standard sk98. It wasn’t long till it arrived. I was really happy with it. It worked great and had plenty of power for my needs in this light. Unfortunately something happened a few months ago and now there’s a slight problem. I think I dropped it.

Now, when I push to turn it on, about half the time it won’t come on. Then I’ll start unscrewing the back cover and it’ll usually come on and run. I don’t know what’s causing it and since I’ve never worked on a light, I wouldn’t know how to fix it.

I am hoping someone that does know what’s going on inside these lights will let me send it to them to see if they can fix it for me. I’ll pay for your troubles and shipping, if you’ll do it.

If you don’t mind helping, let me know and I’ll send it to you. No rush job. Feel free to get it done when ER your schedule allows. I’d just like to get my cool flashlight back.

Thank you for your time.

I hope you find a solution. Before you ship it out, I suggest a fix that has worked for me on some lights that seemed to have switch problems.

Excess lubricant can confuse the electrical contacts in a light.

unscrew the head
with a paper tower, wipe off the end of the body tube and the threads, so there is no excess lubricant.

do the same wiping out the inside of the head where the body tube makes contact, and the threads.

removing excess lubricant has fixed several of my lights that had become unreliable.

the lubricant interfered with a good electrical contact between body and head.

do the same for the tail assembly. Do NOT add more lubricant after. Just reassemble and test the light. If it works, problem solved. If it does not work, proceed to more advanced surgery.

good luck!
