Maybe I can get some help here so that I don’t have to buy one, or four, of everything to try out.
I want to buy Nichia e21a and optisolis. What temperatures people prefer with these? 4000k to 4500k is my preference. However, I’m under the impression that most people don’t go over 4000k with the e21a and optisolis, and that makes me hesitant to get 4k or 4500k that I normally would. Maybe I’m mistaken about that. Point is, I’m highly impressionable to ideas/ opinions.
e21a 4000k has been out of stock for a while now. I wonder when it will be back in stock?
I am a big fan of 4000k if it’s an all around light, but I own several lights with e21a LEDs ranging from 2000k all the way to 5000k. It really depends on your preference. They all look great. Right now I am loving the 3500k cct.
4500 will be neutral white.
4000k will feel a touch warm.
It’s all relative though based on what ambient light your eyes are adjusted to.
Virence.com is sold out of the E21A 4000K variant. They sold two different bins in the past. A D220 and a D240. The older D220 had amazing tint with a DUV of about –0.005 IIRC in the Tiara Pro. Best 4000K tint I’ve seen to date. The more recent D240 bin I think has the DUV right on the BBL and is nowhere near as nice. I didn’t really like it.
I just ordered a H04RC with 2x3500K and 2x4500K to create a 4000K tint with similar to the older D220 4000K batch. A benefit of mixing CCT that I noticed besides dropping the DUV is that it seems to increase RG value, which means colors appear more saturated, which I like.
Now I’m debating hosts. I’ll probably start another thread. I will probably order 2 wizard pros but they don’t seem to have much thermal mass. I might use my D4v2’s. I’m looking for other suggestions for hosts; best looks, function. It would be nice to have ramping.
