Depends who you ask, but I’d say 3 is not even getting close to diagnosable disorder. There are much more expensive and detrimental addictions, so carry on.
If you’re like a lot of us, it takes some time, money, and fun figuring out what you really like, want, and need. Enjoy the ride.
C8s are a nice inexpensive smallish all around performer. Lately I have been walking after dark with a Sofirn C8F. Just a pleasant beam in my favorite neutral color. When the USB charging model with ramping comes out I will be adding another.
LOL - I just Joined this group in December and I already have 3 Convoys, and 1 Sofrin. To be arriving are 3 more Convoys, 1 Sofrin, and 1 Astrolux coming. LOL is that too much? Got a bunch of 1206, 0805, 2010 SMD’s, LED’s, MCPCB, batteries etc……
So far modded the Convoy L6 with stacked sense resistor and lighted side switch - keeper.
I have 2 Convoy C8+ with SST-40, but with the 2 versions of drivers from Convoy. Will likely update sense resistor in one and also plop in a FET driver in the other. So will be following your thread. The Sofrin C8F, I like as is and will leave it stock.
Also got a Texas Ace Lumen tube and other measuring devices too.
So my Answer is a definite “No” you are not Convoy C8 crazy
I have two Convoy C8+’s, one with the four step, and the other ramping. Both have the SST40. Fantastic throwing beams, very impressive for the size and price.
I have a Sofirn C8F and C8G on the way from the Sofirn Light Store. I had a C8F, but my mother-in-law loved it, so I gave it to her. Happy to share the love of lights.
I'm like that with Emisars. 5 d4sv2's in various colors and tints, two D18's (one on hthe way from Vinh) and a D4 pocket thrower. Wild Trail D80v2, an SP70, various Sofirns and Convoys. All in a month.. Playing catch up after being away for a few years! BTW Convoy beats Sofirn in fit and finish.
Love convoys. The problem I have with them is they are dirt cheap considering the quality and very easy to mod and if one of my friends or family members ask for a light with the emitter and beam type they like convoys are the first to be given away. Now I only have a UV s2 left in my collection.
Ironically, I think I only have 1 Convoy C8, and that’s a type-2 host.
S-series tubelights, though, I could open Convoy America and start selling ’em.
All my C8s are either other brands like Sofirn, used as-is, all the way down to crappy no-name garbage-lights that I was gutting to only use as cheap hosts.
Well, I have six Convoys (two S2’s, one C8, one M1, one S2+, and one M2 in the mail; all of them Biscotti, either out of the box or modded) and I’m barely getting started. You be the judge.
