Thank you CheapThrills. That’s an excellent video about the health situation in China.

https://youtu.be/lk5XkhUKMDM

In the first video, at about 9:50, one the guy on the right says:

“The washing of hands with soap … is a rarity in China …. there is no soap in hospitals …”

EEEWWWW.

That first video includes a pointer and link to: Laowhy86’s initial video covering the virus: https://youtu.be/VLp8CHeKQkI

Fantastic video and what a great view into Chinese life and food culture.

Those guys at about the 57 minute mark dismiss the concerns about goods shipped from China.

Different day, different disease, but some of this may still be applicable. Unless, of course, this Coronavirus can survive outside of human body for much much longer.

Now, off to cancelling that snake order I placed the other day…

I don't think the virus will travel far via mail.

I do think it will travel pretty far person to person, unless something big changes, like a vaccine being developed.

A rep from the CDC said there’s a 6 foot danger zone from a infected person that coughs or sneezes.
I’d like to think it would be more if a person really rips a good “AAAaaaaaahhh CCChhhhooooooooo !!!!!

Do you realise that viruses cannot survive outside the human body for more than a few minutes??

This whole hysteria is generated by the media for a reason. Just follow the money.
They are fooling you so the rich get richer on your back.
I really thought this community has smarter people than this.

Are you serious? Are you saying you don’t believe that plagues are dangerous to society, and that today with jet travel, germs can travel globally well within their incubation period?

No I don’t think the world is ending, but yes, this is a disease breakout and needs affirmative action to quarantine and stop.

Check out this vid at about 1:20 it talks about the wet market conditions where the virus likely originated. It’s scary.

Hepatitis C remains infectious for up to 6 weeks, outside of the body, if kept at room temperature on a surface. Every virus is different, but there surely are some that remain infectious beyond a few minutes.

“A recent study by researchers from the Yale Schools of Medicine and Public Health revealed that the hepatitis C virus (HCV) can remain infectious for up to 6 weeks on surfaces at room temperature—resulting in a much longer period for potential transmission than was previously appreciated.” https://www.hhs.gov/hepatitis/blog/2014/01/31/scientists-discover-hepati...

Apparently we’re not the only ones with questions about parcels from China.
People are asking questions about it. This is an integral Q&A from an on-line newspaper if an infected warehouse worker can include something in the parcel you certainly did not order:

===========

===========

Bottomline of the RIVM (national institute for public healt and environmental hygiene):
Cornona viruses spread through people/animals. They have difficulties surviving outside a body.
Certainly on cardboard and packing materials. There’s no indication THIS strain is an exception.

I copied this paragraph from one of the latest reports coming out of China.

“In an unprecedented move, officials have locked down several cities in Hubei, including Wuhan. But the cities weren’t sealed off until after millions of residents had scattered around the country to visit family for the annual Lunar New Year holiday.”

From what I’ve read so far, medical researchers seem to agree the virus has a 4 to 6 day incubation period in the body.
The infected person during that time usually shows no symptoms and may be unaware they are a carrier.
Chinese New Year was on the 25th, by the end of the month, a lot more cases should surface.

Wash your hands.

Don’t touch your mouth, nose, eyes.

Wash your hands again.

Make sure public restrooms have soap.

Oh, and don’t touch strangers or things strangers have touched.

Good handwashing takes 15 to 20 seconds equal to the amount of time it takes to sing that childhood ditty [alphabet song].

A recent Michigan State University study revealed that out of 3,749 people observed in public restrooms, 33% did not use soap when washing their hands, and 10 percent didn’t wash their hands at all.

They also found the seafood mart the virus originated from and started the race against time to come up with a serum.
Because the virus originated from animals, scientists have stated by the time they think they’ve come up with the cure, it could be ineffective.
The reason is because when the virus occupies a different species it could begin to mutate and become more resistant.

Most household disinfectants readily kill coronavirus immediately. Room temperature kills coronavirus within 48 hours. Carpeting is protective to the virus and the virus is able to survive in carpeting for at least 7 weeks.

A third case of the new coronavirus in the U.S. has been diagnosed in Orange County, California.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed the case in a traveler from Wuhan, China, the epicenter of the global outbreak.

Cases in China have soared to nearly 2,000 in recent days. A handful of other cases have been confirmed in other countries, including Australia, France, Japan, Singapore and Thailand.

3rd case of coronavirus confirmed in the US
JAN. 26, 202000:30
The two other cases of the new coronavirus, called 2019-nCoV, in the U.S. were in Everett, Washington, and Chicago. Those patients remain hospitalized, but are said to be doing well.

In a statement late Saturday night, the Orange County Health Care Agency said the patient is in good condition, and in isolation in a hospital. They declined to provide any more details about the person, but said the risk of the virus spreading in the county was low.

“There is no evidence that person-to-person transmission has occurred in Orange County,” health officials wrote in the statement.

Doctors will monitor the patient’s close contacts for at least 14 days for any symptoms. However, health officials said anyone who’s had casual contact with an infected person — shopped in the same grocery store, for example — is at “minimal risk for developing infection.”

The number is most likely a lot higher, but China, in their typical coverup fashion has downplayed the virus.. “doctors in the city were told not to report “viral pneumonia” in their imaging reports between Jan. 12 and Jan. 16”

Another excerpt from the below article, which gives some indication on how China has handled this and their use of “refrigerating strategy”:

“The first of the patients was admitted to hospital on Dec. 16, more than a month before Chinese authorities began to lock down Wuhan and neighbouring cities in Hubei province.”

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/world/article-weeks-before-lockdown-wuha...

Another quote:

Quote:
Chinese authorities initially reported that the new 2019-nCoV coronavirus had most seriously affected the elderly and those left vulnerable by pre-existing health conditions.

But an academic study published by Chinese researchers in The Lancet on Friday found that of the first 41 confirmed cases of the virus, which causes pneumonia-like symptoms, “less than half had underlying diseases.” Nearly half were 49 years of age or younger. And a third had not been exposed to the wild animal market identified as the source of virus, suggesting that even from the earliest days, it had begun to leap between people.

Come on guys, don’t panic. Our immune system will work. Not a chance to get sick from a few viruses, you’d need to spend a week with infected family to consider the risk as real.

I’m trusting in the Lord Jesus to keep me safe until the day He wants me to come home to Him.
Psalm 91:3 says, “For He will rescue you from the hunter’s trap and from the deadly pestilence.”
Nonetheless, I still act sensibly: eat right, take a multivitamin with chelated minerals, wash hands, etc.
No use worrying.
