any good zoomie flashlight for walking (2020)?

Looking for flashlight running on single 26650
I’m planning to use the flashlight for 1-2 hour walk on low-to-mid brightness
Looks like zoomie flashlights give the most accurate round beam without hotspot in the center, so this is what i need
The preferred color temp 4000k
Hidden or no blinking or strobe modes

Preferably with built in charging port so i don’t have to deal with taking out battery everyday for external charging.

The closest match i could find is Lumintop ZOOM 1

but it operates on 18650 Battery (this is ok, but will need charging more often)
and i can’t find beam temp…

Jaxman Z1.

I got a Cometa (Z1 knockoff but still good quality) and love it as a zoomie. I keep it in wide flood 99.96% of the time, and it’s awesome for throwing a nice wide blanket of light.

Bistro ui, so pick the modegroup you want and go crazy.

Wowtac A3S is a single 18650 light with 1000 rated lumen. Also has a pocket clip. Great for what it is. Really like the wide defined circle of light when on flood and it even zooms to a decient beam. Worth a look and it’s $30 when not on sale I think. Amazon carries it.

I believe burattino is looking for a 1x26650 zoomie.

There's a thread that's all about zoomies that would probably be a good information resource, though you would have to do some digging.

EDIT:

Here, I found it:

The Lumintop Zoom1 actually fits 21700 battery better (18650 battery fits but will have some rattle if not using an 18650-to-21700 tube adapter).

Other zoomies with built-in charging port, but use 18650 battery only:

Wuben LT35/L60 (they are the same flashlight; it seems the only change of the L60 from the LT35 is the small tweak in the UI — on the L60, SOS mode is not on the regular cycle but instead activated with double half-press)

Convoy BD04 (18650 only, small zoom range) is also another zoomable and has a built-in charging, although it’s a special type of charging cable…

Wow, thanks for the info! I thought it was 18650 only. The more I know about this zoomie the more I want it…

If you are in the US, the LED Lenser MT10 is on sale for $40 here:

https://www.bobwards.com/led-lenser-mt10-1000-lumen-flashlight-154291

It has a very good flood and spot focusing, includes battery and built-in charging. Tint is cool white and the step down is aggressive based upon reviews, and the typical $80 price is much too high. However at the sale price, I think its worth taking a look at.

Thank you all for the info
I’ve added to the fav. list few lights from aliexpress that i like but need to register with ali and they don’t accept paypal
So I ended up ordering Zoom 1 from AMZ today

My first attempt to buy flashlight for walking wasn’t a real success…
I received Convoy S11 about a week ago. Based on the reviews it could be used for walking.
But the hotspot in the center is so strong it almost blinds you. Yet the amount of spill light is not enough to see around.
To be fair the flash light isn’t bad.

Nice quality.
Very nice color temp.
Uses 26650 ×1

I’ve read about DC-Fix diffusion film. But i’m not sure if it will work with the S11 or if it worth it…

d_t_a thank you for the 21700 info.

Maybe you can tell me where do you get a nice pair of 21700?

Hello again,
I was about to buy 21700 but there could be a catch…
To use the build-in charging, do I need to worry about if cell is protected?

You do not need a protected cell in order to use built-in charging.

If you are asking about the Lumintop Zoom1 specifically, a protected 21700 may be too long to fit in it.

I’m interested in a zoomie and this thread is the second time this month I’ve seen the Z1 suggested. It looks like it’s still available in more than one configuration.

This led me to the linked thread. See post #16.

Jaxman complains about misuse of their property for profit. Then they’re caught doing the same thing in regards to the same light. Notably, they apologize and say they’ll take it down. However, 44 months later the picture is still up.

Z1 is a twisty zoomie, right?
For walking? I certainly wouldn’t recommend a twisty zoomie for walking. Actually my first zoomie was a twisty and my main use for flashlights of its size is walking. I quickly concluded that zoomies were useless for me and only much later learned that push-pull ones are an entirely different thing…

For your Convoy S11, did you get the XHP50.2 or the SST40 version?

The S11 XHP50.2 is more floody and comes with an OP (orange peel) reflector (smoothens out the beam)
The S11 SST40 is more throwy/focused and comes with an SMO (smooth) reflector and makes the beam more focused.

perhaps you got the S11 SST40 version?

Try covering the lens with “Scotch Magic Tape” — which works well as a diffuser.

Just get some diffusion film. Either bug Boaz for some (3bux/sheet iirr) or buy a roll at The Work Bench for covering windows (or diffusing 4500-4600 flashlights).

There’s “coarse” and “fine” grains. The coarse stuff is great for just blurring an overactive hotspot, sort of like an OP reflector on steroids, while the fine stuff will give a nice wide blanket of light that gradually fades the farther out you go.

I got a WW Xeno E03 that’s great as-is, but with fine diffusion-film gives a nice blanket of warm light to make my way down the basement, etc., without having to bother turning on any lights. A conventional hotspot-light would be nigh useless to me for that. (And I somehow managed to get a nonsticky disc to “snap into” the bezel and stay in place.)

Ditto a WW WK20 diving light, if I need a bigger brighter wall of light.

So just buy the light you want, with the UI you want, the CT/tint you want, the form-factor you want, and slap on some diffusion film and be done with it. It peels off, so it’s 100% reversible. Or if you get the nonsticky kind, either wedge it in from the front, or put it behind the glass for “permanent” yet still reversible.
