Shadow TC6 I Got From Hank Doesn't Work Update: Hank Gave Me A Full Refund Paid For Return Shipping

I just got this Shadow TC6 in the mail today from Hank. Well the Xtar 18700 2600mah batteries I finally squeezed a set in th tube. Some won't even fit. That sucks in itself right there. Then I look and the LED is off centered. I told Hank to pick me out a centered LED since somone mentioned that the one they got was off centered before I bought this light. Well the light won't even come on when I tighten the head down all the way. It will work if you barely start to tighten the head. But what good does that do me? Hank said he would check the light over. Well Hank has failed me. I put some Trustfire unprotected batteries in it because I thought the Xtars may be too long. Nope, they don't work either. I emailed Hank and told him I'm not paying for return shipping on this one back to him. I'm not a happy camper. I'll wait and see how Hank wants to go about handling this, but this light needs to go in the trash.

Update: Thank you Hank for making good on all of this whatever went wrong here.

Sorry to hear about that...it really sucks to be clear youd like something inspected before shipping out, then the seller just pays you lip-service.

Can you let me know who is Hank, is it a store?

Hope it works out for you.

Yea and Hank sold me on the light on the quality on how he highly recommended the Shadow TC6.

Wow, thats a really nice looking light, in the silver-grey it looks awesome. From those pics it looks very high quality, and for 50$ too.

Maybe people just say they have physical stock, and they will check, but they dont.

Same with me I ordered a Seiko watch from Japan and asked the vendor to CHECK THE DIAL, and when I get it sure enough, giant speck of dust under the glass, and the date is not centered. :(

That would suck.

Yea I don't think Hank even checked this light. But I will wait and see what Hanks says. I know one thing if this light is going back to him he will put the money into my paypal account for the shipping and return all my money on the light before it ships back to him.

Mine didn’t work at arrival. I reversed the body tube and it worked. My off centre emitter was because of lack of thermal glue under the star and one screw was off. I replaced the screw, screwed back the head and now it is perfectly centred.

He said he would check the light over. He didn't. I would bring that to his attention and never do business with him again. He obviously 'doesn't care.' Trust is out the window...

+1

I reversed the body tube and it still won't work. I'm not wasting anymore my time getting it back out of the box. This light is one I wished I never would have bought.

Sorry to hear that it was not in great shape. I know how frustrating it can be to wait and wait - and then the torch isn't what you thought it was.

PM me if you would like to sell it. I would love to convert one to triple XM-L.

Dont get fooled if the vendor says "I checked it, maybe it got that way during shipping."

Because the thing is, I think margins are slim on lights. So its in the vendors best interest to check before shipping because returns and exchanges and double shipping costs money. Happy customer is good word of mouth (free advertising) and repeat sales.

Otherwise it means vendor doesnt care. (Im not talking about vendors with massive volume like DD, I mean one man operations, or smaller shops.)

Unless its a mistake, and mistake happens, no issue with that we are all human, its how things get resolved that matter.

I guess mine was checked, and checked reverse. The tail switch was attached to the wrong side already. It may be weak connections and poor manufacturing changing the state of these lights in transit.

Sorry for your trouble. It is a nice and bright light but you can't trust it.

Maybe it is new batches or something, but my Shadow TC6 was the finest display of 'budget' flashlight I have EVER seen. The overall build and quality was second to none. It was finer than my Fenix's actually. It is off to a new owner and they are very lucky to receive it.

Did you try to find out what's wrong with the light? Check, if the switch is good? Pill tightened in the head? Any readings on multimeter (amperes), when you turn it on?

I'm usually the last one to defend vendors, but I'm not sure you've given Hank a chance to make things right before hitting the forum in frustration. (And I do understand the frustration!)

Once Hank gets back from New Years vacation (11 days from now), see what he says. If he's not playing ball, then bring it to the boards.

I used to work in retail, and mistakes happen. It's how the mistakes get fixed that separate the men from the boys.

I am really sorry for your loss (yes, loss). I know how does it feel.

Hank WILL fix it. He is one of the persons who really does care. This CNY session, it seems all things are fooked up.

"Any readings on multimeter (amperes), when you turn it on?"

Yes that could way to check if it really works.

Somehow I doubt that Shadow even makes light that don't work, but bad things can happen, for example my Eagletac T20CS MKII came with an offcenter LED. However their all new method of setting the LEDs is pill-less. Two of my Shadow lights are so, one not(old TC6). The LEDS are mounted with two screws, maybe they don't tighten the screws well enough and during transportation and the LED end up off centered, because theoretically the LED cannot be off center since the two screws are clearly defined to hold the LED star in place. I have the old TC6 with a brass pill, like Coolperl shows in his photos.

i was seriously thinking bout bying one of these lites

now i'm not so sure

Like I said guys I'm not even going to get it back out of the box. Hank plainly told me that he would take care to make sure all was good. That included a centered LED. I won't even waste my time to take pictures. But these lights have trouble even inserting Xtar batteries in the tube just so you know.
