Things you start to notice as a flashaholic

Those little things you never noticed before ..But now...

_your kitchen counter is 1000 times dirtier than you thought it was .

_you can acurately judge lumens  of passing car headlights ,motorcycles ,sunsets ..etc..

_Your right eye sees red better .and your left sees more green and your brain doesn't color balance well .

_When a cute Asian girl is holding a flashlight ..you're looking at the flashlight.

_When you were a kid you didn't want to go to bed ...Now You look forward to night time.

I start to notice how everyone else's collection is bigger/cooler than mine. (Goes off now to grumble in a corner.)

( i use a gorillapod grounded on the floor to illuminate it. i can see all dust particles and all of a sudden cleaning becomes fun. using my flashlights for cleaning is one of the few regular serious purposes i use them for. typically i use my only big light (18650) for this, the Eagtac )

I have noticed that on C.S.I. they have the most expensive, latest, and greatest technologies available for solving crime, but their flashlights are pretty lame outputwise.  I believe this is done intentionally because weak flashlights provide the dark "film noir" milieu that C.S.I. is known for.

which flashlight brands have you seen in US TV-series (or US movies)?

i would assume: Maglites in older filmographic material, and Surefire in newer ones. But no Eagletac or XXXFire's, am i right?

Maybe Fenix.

Fenix is even very popular on Amazon.

One thriller I can't remember the title of the detectives used jetbeam bc40's, in the movie 'the cave' they used some handheld HID's i saw earlier that day on dinodirect. But my knowledge of flashlights is still quite limited so a lot of the forum users here will probably be able to spot much more brands than me :).

saw a 3D maglite in "once upon a time".  Sooo painfully underpowered, overfocused and too big.  The light just appeared in the guy's hand and then disappeared, apparently he carried that big thing concealed.  Can't imagine where Tongue Out

Being a sci-fi fan i can never stop laughing at what poor flashlights up to year 2008 or so actors carried around. Even my wife said once: Oh dear look what a pathetic flashligh they carry... i never knew they were so weak years ago. At least helicopter mounted searchlights were always rather impressive.

Funny how a stupid flashlight in a rather decent movie makes you wonder if they had better chances with a random trusfire for 12usd freeshipped. Smile

Your wife is totally absorbed in the plot of some movie, and you want to rewind and freeze the frame to see if you can I.D. what kind of flashlight that guy on top of the train is using...

Oh, and this one is baaaad...

Some guy with a bunch of tools hanging from his belt is ahead of you at a fast food restaurant...you notice what looks like an AA flashlight sticking out of his back pocket...trying to figure out what it is, it's not a Maglite...your wife says "did you just check out that guy's ass?"

Rats, finally sold my 2010 509hp Mustang...now I can buy more lights!

Sold the red one too! Now guess what I drive, doing my penance for 500 hp commuters...

I noticed that since I became a flashaholic that I don't play with my guns as much as I used to.

Fenix TK41, Olight M20s, Olight M3X, Shiningbeam Blaze, Shiningbeam S-mini (x2), Xeno E03, Klarus P2A, 3xD cell Mag Light, Jetbeam BA20 (x2), Jetbeam BC40, Quark AA2 Tactical, Zebralight H51, Romisen RC-29 II, iTP C7, iTP H01(x3), iTP A3 E0S(x5), Monst

I noticed that i got a pretty heavy wish to do my own flashlights from scratch but lack a machining shop with all the machinery needed and the know how. Being generally not so clumsy i still fear these machines greatly. Since mistakes are easy to make there is lots of things that can go wrong. I hardly know anyone doing these jobs with all fingers (or worse intact). Also tought of machining reflectors and electroplating them. Then the stinky process of anodizing might top the cake. Way too much for a hobby.

I'll stick with modding, althrough i lack many tools i would wish to have. A press drill is one of those.

Aynway, it's hilarious that any light source i notice gets a lumen and color temperature estimate.

I was at the courthouse, disputing a traffic ticket.  After my turn was over, I left the room, and so did the cop who ticketed me because I was his last one.  As we left, I noticed a Surefire G2 on his belt, and I asked him about it.  He demo'd it on the wall, and then I pulled out my EDC at that time: a WF-500 with 5x XR-E drop-in.  Blew his G2 away of course, although I don't think any cop would carry a WF-500 around.

You're playing Alan Wake and you can't help but notice his flashlight is too throwy and lacks regulation :).

saw my lady last week using my SC51w to spot places not yet wacuum cleaned and dusty, under our bed.

And yes, I´m usually the one who´s precise around here when doing cleaning of the house... Neither does she have her own flashlight nor is she interested A BIT about them Flat Stare

You don't turn the lights on in your house at night, you just use your flashlight instead

you get sexual feelings when a flaslight is put in the pouch, even more when it's gets "turned on"

When you give it to your GF you hope she appreciates the triangular relationship you all have

you are checking your friends keychains for that mini flashlight you gave them

The gun mounts were re-purposed Steadicam mounts, for filming 'handheld' without it looking like it.   A good Steadicam operator makes low six figures, BTW.

1. Definitely...Just get rid of those pesky bulbs

2. I think you need to see someone professionally.

3. Your GF asked us to tell you that you need to see someone .

4. Hard to give away flashlights without expecting that they will have the same reaction you have to lights.

are your dads and mums still around? i'd love to give mine a good light (for keychain, for purse, for toolbox, for car, ..) but i am sure that they wouldnt regard nor treat the light with enough care or respect. Will happen, so i wont give them any light: they would lose it or even forget owning one (my gift!). Same with cells. I'd wouldnt mind giving them Eneloops (No LiIon's for sure!!) and explaining that i would take care of them (also because they are part of my Eneloop Tones Glitter collection and these cells bear original numbers #1-8 in addition to their 8 different colors!!) but if they lose the torch, they also lose my numbered Eneloops.

i *know* that they would lose the lights i give them .. unless i personally attach it to the keychain with the car key ( good plan! J) )

Browsing Netflix the other I came across the title The Secret of NIMH as one of the higher rated movies (for me) in one of the popular categories

Seriously, my initial reaction was that it's a documentary on Nickel-metal hydride batteries! I was thinking how strange that it would be positioned on the list like that but it took a few seconds to finally realize "NIMH" is supposed to be a noun and not an acronym Big Smile
