I just bought an Olight 14500 and put in in my Nitecore i2 charger to make sure it was fully charged, It seemed to start to charge then nothing. It now reads 0v on my multimeter. I’m thinking maybe it’s somehow tripped the overcharge protection.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to reset and wake it up again? I have tried using a 16340 in parallel, but no joy as yet.
Disclaimer: you can try, but it does not always work.
There are several protection methods, like PTC, PCB and CID.
Some are resetable, but the last one is not.
Or: the remaining voltage was too low for the charger to recognise it as a Li-ION battery.
In that case you need a charger that has 0-volt activation capabilities.
Very subtle charging pushes the voltage over the threshold. Then normal charging takes over.
I’ve got one of the same cells, same issue, waiting to hear from Olight what they advise.
EDIT: Olight CS asked me to send a photograph of the flashlight the cell came in, and a photo of the failed battery.
Olight says they no longer have this cell in stock, it’s not clear if they’ve quit selling these cells entirely.
