thank me now or thank me later

I'm only buying headlamps with 900000 Lumen for under $5, but thanks anyway.

Do you really think you are going to get 3000 lumens out of 3AAA batteries?

Wow !

A TRIPLE in a headlamp ? OMG.

Seriously, I like the choice of 3 x AA batteries.

It's not 3AAA but 3AA, it's possible.

Don't you know about those new Uranium 235 driven AAs? The only downside is the radioactive hazard suit that's needed while using them. Of course it's an 3xXM-L driven hard flashlight for $12 (even better 1 for $6), absolutely no doubt. And best of all ... it looks like a plastic housing... what a brilliant combination.

The uranium 235 AA's rock, but I had to quit using them. I didn't really mind the hazard suit, but the 16 inches of lead encasement started to give me neck problems.

Wow! 3AA batteries and it's possible to get 3000 lumens. Now I'm really pissed off. I'm going to send my Fenix TK41 back. The dam thing only gives me 800 lumens on 8 AA batteries. To think I wasted my money by spending $129 on that light when I could have got two of these lights for less than $12. I am really depressed.

You can't get 3000 lumens out of 8 AA batteries because of the higher cumulative internal resistance.

However, if you bridge the anode and cathode of at least 3 batteries in the pack, you might remedy the situation.

Another solution is to change the lens to aspheric (or even better - TIR), that will collect the lumens lost in the reflector's coating.

You can improve the efficiency of power transfer to the LED by replacing the switch with a QTC pill, but be careful not to press it too hard, otherwise it will cross the zero-resistance boundary of maximum allowed pressure, and start feeding the LED with negative voltage which is hazardous to most commercially available LEDs.

The best (but most expensive) solution is to put a black body right next to the LED, so it can absorb the excess heat generated by the LED star, and convert it to light. This is called black body radiation, it has the best lumens per watt efficacy short of green monochromatic light. Do note that black body radiation is extremely carcinogenic, so please wear appropriate protective gear when using your flashlight, if you choose this solution.

YEA, what he said!

Haggai: Are you really trying to tell me that these two headlights that cost $12 combined are going to give me 3000 lumens from 3AA batteries?

If it's possible to get 3000 lumens from 3 AA batteries, why are they not making lights that do so?

I think this one is related to the headlamps;

To expensive? Reviews,please?

I wonder if they're actually 3xAA, or if it is a mistake and they're 3xAAA like too many others.

I've been wanting to one of the head lamps of this style, mount the battery pack to the bill of a baseball cap, so that the back side that would be on your forehead is flat on the top of it. Then, when you swivel the light up to point forward there's lots of room behind it - for an aluminum finned heat sink.

I just catch some sun in a Coke bottle and... BOOM!!! INSTANT GAZILLION TRILLION BAZILLIONS LUMENS!!

Costs about $2.50 for the bottle, but I am willing to sell them for $149.99 with free shipping.

*edit* Ill throw in some duct tape for a extra $15.00 so you can tape it to your head.

Chinese lumens call for Chinese physics...

(oh, and, umm, don't try to short the anode and cathode of any battery... unless you really want a very short burst of some serious lumens and don't have use for most of your fingers)

WOW must get three sets. On for my head, one as a belt buckle, one on each elbow and one on each knee. Voila !!! A new Super Hero - Lumenman

and Santa Claus is real. I have seen him myself.

For 3,000 lumens in that footprint I'll pay double that price!!!
