FastTech- Elaborate Scam Site or ...?

Can you fellas tell me if FastTech is a legit site or not? I would sincerely appreciate it. I’ve found 6 (ugh…….yes, and COUNTING) flashlights I just found out that I cannot possibly live without. About to drop $120USD and like the gf says……we’re too poor to buy cheap shit (think about it….it’s a really good saying). Legit site or no? Customer service ok or along the lines of ArmyTek? Thanks fellas and y’all take care!

Legit. Very comparable to Banggood and Gearbest. So definitely not comparable to a domestic vendor, so you really should use Paypal just in case. And yeah, communication is also often not buttery smooth; you need to have patience sometimes. But legit.

Edit:

However, the product you’re linking to seems to be dodgy. Generic lights like that one usually are. If you’re looking for a particular light in a particular price range, you could ask for advice here. I certainly would not buy that red light.

diving light that is IPX6 :person_facepalming:

That looks very similar to a Sofirn Red MS11 Cree XML2 Scuba Diving Flashlight. You can get the MS11 for $22.14 including the battery and charger kit, on AliExpress. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32823139189.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.45195721foFzoB

The Sofirn is IPX8 rated, and 1500 lumens. And most importantly, it’s a Sofirn product. Well, that’s a plus for me, I don’t know how you feel about Sofirn products.

Sofirn has a good reputation here. :+1:

I’ve placed a lot of orders with them in the past, and have had great customer service experiences with them. When packages got lost or items went out-of-stock, they were able to substitute items, resend orders, and provide store credit.

They’ve also got nice coupon codes around major holidays/sales events, on the order of 10/15% off across the site. Though if you want items right away, use the code BLF to get 5% off of flashlight-related stuff.

The main drawback to the site is that because they rely on third-party suppliers, there can sometimes be a long wait between placing an order, and seeing it shipped out.

I have ordered from Fasttech for many years since they first opened and have always had good experiences. Not without problems but they were taking care of by customer service. They usually respond to enquirys within 1 to 2 days. I consider them a very reputable seller but there is always that chance of a bad experience.
Seen it many, many times on this forum where people where praising a seller only to have a new thread pop up where someone wasn’t happy with the seller. While you will probably only find a few unsatisfied customers from fasttech it does happen and probably happens almost in any business. Just keep this in mind when going in.
.
From my recent orders with china sellers, things seemed to be crippled right now in china from the virus epidemic. I have orders that have not left china yet after 3 weeks of the order being placed (no orders from fasttech). I know their having a tough time right now, so I haven’t complained, just ask them to check on my order. They reassured me my orders will ship soon. So I try to wait patiently. I knew this would probably be the case before ordering because of the epidemic. So keep this in mind before ordering.

Legit site, I have ordered at FastTech for years. Price is really good, and I love their customer service, always happy shopping there.

Totally legit. I’ve had great dealings with them over the years.

Yep. Just don’t annoy them with specific questions like “does this light have a solid shelf or a hole behind the emitter” or “why do you call this an amber light when it’s actually warm white” as they can never set hands on the stuff they sell.

I concur Fasttech is legit, although shipments to US are generally shipped via a canoe, so expect to wait by the mailbox for a month (maybe longer with the pandemic).

I waited nearly a year for a $2 item from them. When I contacted them to say it never came, they told me to keep waiting and closed the conversation. That happened 3 or 4 times. The conversations took countless weeks. Finally got my money back.

Legit.
I’ve made more than ten orders and happy with them.

Very reputable seller. There was never a problem that could not be solved.
They are not the fastest. But who is, these days?

And eh …… In my book that is not a diving light. For starters, at the tail I can see only 1 O-ring.
When you look at the Sofirn, you see double O-rings. Thats already looking much better.

But most of all, especially when using in salt water, the ano is the weak point for corrosion.
When experienced divers complain about thick black ano. What are the chances with red ano?
But if you just want a light that will survive a good rain storm, go for the Sofirn.
I carry a neon yellow polycarbonate 1-mode divelight in my BOB. Only to backup the backup.

Very good site. Interesting selection of products, strong focus on vaping.
Big problem these days would be that they stopped shipping batteries and knives to many destinations.

Scam.

This is our story: When they got scarce, we ordered couple of hundred face masks with DHL Express. Expensive, but we needed them. One to two weeks nothing happens, then FT wanted more money for shipping. Much more. It took three more months for them to arrive after that, and what arrived was unusable due to their chemical smell. We wanted our money back, and since FT did not respond, we opened a case with PayPal. In the end, we had to send them back at our cost and got back the money for the masks and a fraction of the shipping costs. All in all a loss of about 100 EUR.

Fortunately we had other sources from where we ordered in parallel. They all arrived in time and were ok for use.

Never again FT. You may order there, but don’t buy expensive stuff as you’ll be left alone if something is wrong.

They are just a website selling Chinese things they have never used. They keep their prices ridiculously low by ignoring complaints. They are the Chinese lottery.

I’ve used them in the past several times with no problems, usually for flashlights and other small stuff. All my orders were below $50 tho.

I would only order one single light at a time and don’t add any other items.
Wait until you actually get confirmation from USPS or courier that the single item order is actually in country before placing a second order, again for only one single item.

That is good advice for any overseas shipping site, don’t spend more than you are willing to lose.

Aliexpress and Fasttech are the only two sites that never lost any shipments to me. Which doesn’t mean it won’t happen to someone else or to me in the future.
If you order enough or from enough places… a loss will hit you at some point.
