Lumintop TD15X --anyone use it?

I have a TD15x. I think it's a great light, but there are others that are now better. Still a great light though. I don't hear too much about it from anyone else.

Share your thoughts and experiences on this model, if you have one?

Yup, I owned one for a while. Fit and finish were very good, only the knurling could've been better. Not much in the way of grip once your hands got a little sweaty. After a period of months though, I got a little tired of tightening/loosening the head to change modes. I'd much rather do that with the clicky (just a personal preference). Sold it off once I started using the Scorpion V2.

yes i have it.. great light, nice thrower... i'm using 2*18650 to get its max lumens. superb finishing quality

I tried throwing in some Callie Kustom x2 3100mah batteries. Too bad it doesn't work. The head gets too tight for the ability to change modes. I guess I'll stick to x2 trustfire 3100 mah (red) batteries.

The td15x definitely has a tight hot spot. I would like to get the eagletac g25c2 as I think it may be better than the td15x, but it's hard to justify getting another light that is basically the same as the one that I already have (td15x).

Nice to hear from other owners.

Evidently, they have a v2 with thermal step down. "This is the V2 TD15x. It features a step down from max mode to ensure LED longevity and longer battery life. Also the battery tube is not outfitted with springs on both the head and tailcap for maximum recoil absorption."

the problem with TD15X is only on the battery. You can run it with 1*18650 flat top batteries but not when you want to run it with 2*18650 flat top batteries. i tried to use 2 unprotected flat top Panasonic 2900 batteries, the bottom of the battery didnt touch the tail cap.

Therefore, use button top batteries when you want to run with 2*18650

You must have the version 2; where they got rid of the springs?

Duro, I have to step in here before it gets too derailed on misinformation. I believe you pulled that quote from my website and it was a typo. It is supposed to say it does have springs on both ends, the typo has been fixed. The earlier version in ~2010 did not have a spring in the head. The new version does.

Thanks. I found that kind of strange. Protects the battery by not having a spring? Makes sense now.....

Jake, do you think If I brought these shortcomings to lumintop's attention that they would replace my td15x with a v2?

I hate when light manufacturers do this, they put out a light and then a few months later when they realize some of the design is crap, they produce a new version and you're out of luck after dropping down a fair amount for the light in the first place, believing it to be a quality product.

In Lumintop's defense, it's been at least a year that the older version TD15x has been out. It's worth a shot since all you have to do is send back the head of the flashlight to them. I don't know what they'll say though.

so mine is the earlier version, without spring on the head???

So beside the spring attachent on v2, any more different with the earlier version>?
